I'm trying my hand at a deck install for the first time. I actually have the deck wired and powered.

But this particular stereo has bluetooth for hands free operation. I need to route the microphone cable from the deck by or past the dash, then up the A-pillar to my visor to mount the microphone.

How do I get the dash off (Huge PITA?), and does the A pillar just pull away with pressure? It seems to flex a little, but I don't want to bust anything.

Thanks

yeah if i rember correct they do.not bye my car right now but trying to rember if there is a black molding up against it that you can pull out and get a little look in there to see wher the holding areas are. atleast when i worked at the body shop we had tons of odd shaped tools for pushing and prying. i would think a small eye glass flat head to pull the edge to get a looksey in there and then a longer flat head to actually push/pry as you pull on it.

A pillar trim just pops off. To avoid dismantling the dash maybe you can run the wire under the dash?

Yeah forgot to include that in my prevoius post yuo should be able to get a guid wire or somthing like a coat hanger and poke it down once you get the pillar cover off and the attach you wiring to the hanger/wire and pull it back threw to help feed it.
Let us knw how it goes. or maybe take photos and do a DIY thread :)

^ Best idea! Will save you a big headache and will do the exact same thing. Just make sure you put the wire over your steering column and zap strap it lots.

Pulling on the A-pillar from the inside edge seemed like it was dangerously close to making it snap.

So I found I could pull the rubber trim, and pushing inward from the outside edge, it popped out easier. I think it is because the connectors are closer to the outside edge.

I removed the cover and side bolt of the dash, and pulling it forward just a little, I could fish the wire in. One problem, I didn't realize the bottom had a small snap clip holdling the bottom of the dash in. I think pushing the clip out at the bottom would have prevented me popping it. Oh well, one small cracked connector. But the dash doesn't feel much different with that piece gone.

Picture of the deck out, what a mess eh?

Tested the bluetooth phone use, and it works great.....at least sitting still. We'll see how good the noise cancelling tech works when I'm driving. My car is a bit noisy.
