rock auto had them but then they had five different ones and no Bosch sensors.

There is a front sensor before the cat and a rear sensor after the cat.

my next question is are they the same sensor? the site above lists two separate part numbers, but I have a hard time thinking that they are different.

I can get a Universal Bosch o2 sensor for $41

secondly I noticed that the second o2 sensor in the diagram is located after the o2 sensor, will going down to one hi flow cat effect this at all?

The difference is that the universal one you will have to cut, strip, and connect the wires yourself. If you go that route buy quick connects, the Bosch connectors are garbage. Or you can save yourself the trouble and buy the Subaru fitment one where you just unplug, plug, and go.

On my 2.2 they are different. One is actually an A/F sensor, which has different measurements and tolerances than the other one.
I tried the generic ones, but had zero luck and then went OEM.

Look at the picture on Amazon of that universal O2 sensor. It doesn't HAVE connectors, you will have to splice those in. With the Subaru specific sensor you can use the existing connectors (unless someone has really screwed with it and cut it off in the past or something)

lol no, I am looking at a set for 71 with the connections. they are Subaru specific and not universal. i am just wondering if the connector on those are bad too.

That must be either specific to 99s or specific to California emissions, because my 98 2.5 and countless other 2.2s use standard O2s, not AFRs

The rear sensor performs like a AFR sensor on all OBD2 cars it is only there to tell you if the cat is not working correclty.

Rear sensor reads the gasses after the cat and the computer compares the values between the front and rear if there is to much or not enough change you get a code it has no affect on how the car runs unlike the front sensor......
