View Full Version : Wheel puller for our crank pulleys?

I have a quick question.. Do we need a wheel puller for our cars to pull our crank pulley in replacing it with the LW pulley???? I just moved and I left my wheel puller back home, I don't want to start the project not having the wheel puller

this probably doesn't matter but I am curious what pulley you going for?

Is there a DIY for this on here as well?


if not could you make one when you do it?

I have been looking around though and just re read some of the threads I was looking at and it was never mentioned, however I think you will need it if it has never been removed before. I just don't see something like that being easy to remove after 14 years

Just undo that big nut, hit it with spray lube and pop it off.

Ok cool, ya i was pretty sure I didn't need one. I'm changing out the crank pulley, for a agency power lightweight pulley. 4lbs lighter

nope, if you have an auto transmission pop a screwdriver in the tab on top driver side of the trans, and put the biggest breaker bar and pipe you have on the nut because that sucker is torqued on there pretty good.

Yep, it just sits on a keyed shaft, so it just slides off once you break the bolt of doom.

thats a good name for that bolt, too loose and it's doom for the pulley...

its a bitch to break w/ out impact, if you got impacts and want to take out whats needed to fit one in there, easy peasy.

I like to lay a breaker bar on the ground and turn the motor, but everyone always freaks out. Been doing it this way for a long long time.

I wouldn't call that smarter - more like, risky. But then again when was the last time I disconnected the negative terminal of the battery while poking around in the engine bay...
