Nice to see some vintage cars still on the roads in Japan. I heard the local laws sort of encourage people not to hold onto their cars for too long. (inspections, taxes and such)

I saw a sedan one of those on the road yesterday, and realized I didn't recognize it, other than being Subaru of course. What are they?

It's a mid-'70s Subaru Leone.

I'm going to bump this because I saw this during my recent road trip in Japan:

I seriously thought about what it would be like to daily drive a 360 this morning. Small world.

Probably because the beetle was such a hot car back then (in that segment).

The auto industry in Japan was helped along by the English after WWII. I can only assume thats one reason why the drive on the same side as England.

Think about it, how many cars have European style?

That's more than just copying the style. It looks just like a beetle with subtle differences. I like the 360 van a lot better.

yea the beetle was kinda a flagship for the auto industry. i was reading on wiki that some of the early toyota actually shared parts with the beetle.
