Helping my friend look for a used WRX. we've found one but it has had all the bearings replaced in the trans. the reason they were replaced is because they were all scored and pitted. All repairs under warranty. Is this something to be worried about or is it all good now that they've been replaced?

thanks,
~Matt

Hard to say without seeing the failed bearings, but premature bearing failure from the pitting/scoring is usually a heat or lack of lubrication problem. The only concerns I would have would be what specifically cause the failure and whether or not the trans was thoroughly cleaned after the bearings were replaced (failed bearings produce a lot of tiny metal debris that gets suspended in the fluid...bad for other metal parts)

Heat would cause overheating.

Contamination would cause scoring and pitting.
