Hey, I got a 99 legacy GT with a blown motor. Luckily I got a crashed 2000 Legacy Gt with a motor in it. I want to know if the motor will swap from the 00 to the 99 with no problems, is it all plug and play? The 00 motor is automatic and the 99 is standard, but I am not going to swap the tranny which I think shouldnt be a problem. Also do I need any part of the harness from the 2000 motor because I am planning on just cutting the harness.

ive read that the 99s came with either the DOHC or SOHC 2.5s

if they are both DOHC OR both SOHC

and both use either one of MAF or MAP sensors

you wont have any issues. plug and play.

however if one is DOHC and one is SOHC you will have issues.

as for the standard/auto issue you just have to swap the flexplate/flywheel

and i wouldnt cut anything. that sound like more work. theres only a few electrical connectors on the left side of the block near the mating surface of the trans.
and some other things like the alt.
