View Full Version : im glad SOMEONE noticed my lighting upgrades
It appears that you have 14 forward lamps in an assortment of head, auxiliary driving, and fog lamps. My interperetation of the laws in RCW. 46.37.40, 46.37.180, and 46.37.220 is that you would only be allowed a maximum of 8 total. You are allowed one or two headlamps per side(factory mounted), two auxiliary driving lamps, and 2 fog lamps. There are also limitations as to mounting heights (minimums and maximums) that you are probably in compliance with. I would be willing to bet that your driving lights are probably not capable of being dimmed, only on or off. Those would only be incompliance if they are wired them so that they turn off when you select the low beam headlamp setting. Please read the referenced RCW's so that you understand them more clearly.

at least he didnt say anything about me not having a front plate..which is the only thing actually illegal about the front of my car

You are in the United Socialist Kalifornian Republic, where any mods to cars come under the strictest Gestapo scrutiny.

NY is no easier when it comes to smogging a car. The cops just aren't as crazy when it comes to modded cars as most of them are in the hobby. The only mess with the truly riced out cars that are probably unsafe for the road anyway.

I'm not sure I understand the purpose of all the lights but whatever floats your boat.
I think that any cop would have a hard time getting a citation to stick just for having lights mounted on your car as long as they are within a reasonable height. Thats like saying you can't drive with beer in the trunk of your car because there is the slight chance you could stop, get out, crack it open on the side of the road and start driving. As long as you aren't blinding people with them, who cares if they are on the car or not.
But what do I know. There are a lot of stupid laws on the books.

just keep the light covers in the trunk or sparetire well, technically all of those lights should be covered when on the road, just like pickups, buuut its such a small offense most police wont hassle you unless they have to meet quota or something lol.
I went through my lightwhore phase myself, never got hassled by the police driving through 6 states, though I was only over by a couple of extra lights.

I keep my light covers on all the time. Only when I go on road trips, I take them off.
its not illegal here to have uncovered lights.. i went into the sheriffs office and asked them

I don't think his battery and alternator can handle all of the lights being on for more than a couple of minutes :smt005
^well it does alot better than i thought it would, the lights do not dim at all when they're all on and i squish my brakes.. idc what anyone says, i'll post a video to prove it, lol
i left my 2 big lights and the 4 driving lights on by accident once (you think ida noticed, right?) abuot 4 hours later the car took a few more turnovers to start but still did

Get some Caps and run your lights off the caps. Better output. :p
I have no idea about Oregon on the number, but if any headlights are a color other than white, they technically aren't legal (even stock HIDs aren't legal if they are blue). Fog lights can be white or amber.
I just run the stock lights on my car, though I want a light bar for the roof. Driving offroad at night sucks, going downhill with an uphill ahead means you can't see anything except the bottom of the hill.
