I'm on the hunt for a short shifter for my 1995 Legacy Wagon, but I keep reading different information about what works and what doesn't.

Can anyone confirm that 96 Impreza shift assembly is the same as a 1995 Legacy?
I want to buy this, but I read about the different sizing of the ball:
