View Full Version : issues getting an exhaust on my blitzen because of bumper

i went out to get an exhaust for my 2000 Blitzen (BE5) and the guy at the shop told me the i wouldnt be able to because of the stock bumper. does anyone know how true that is, and if it is, will the only way to get an aftermarket exhaust is to get is custom made?

There are a lot of factors regarding the compatability of your desired exhaust. Unless you're wanting to install a melon cannon, your bumper shouldn't be one of those factors.

the guy at the part store said it was the angle that wouldnt allow an aftermarket exhaust. so he's wrong?

Ah I see. Yeah, that makes sense. I figured you were just doing a size upgrade. Look at your bumper. There's a hole in it for your exhaust. You should be able to figure out if something fits or not.

first off measure the hole in the bumper...if you don't want to modify that expensive blitzen piece thats pretty much what youre restricted to, unless you bypass it completely using a turndown tip that ends behind the bumper (with proper clearance so the exhaust gas wont melt your bumper).

USDM and non-blitzen cars dont have this particular problem since its you can go completely below the bumper or there's only a partial half-moon cutout.

thanks, im going to measure the hole, and take it back to the part store to have him order one. this is what it looks like. you can pretty much see how it has the cut out on the bottom.

Just make sure there's at least 1/2" on each side of the cutout or so...you don't want the exhaust tip to be too close to the plastic anyway...bad juju

thats what i figured...theres a metal fencing that is inside of the hole, that would actually keep it from touching the bumper. ill take some pics of my car and post a better picture.

well, i ended up getting one made. it cost me $200 less than buying one from the shop. i still wish i couldve figured out what will fit so people have a choice.
