I have a 2003 Legacy GT and never had a problem with the audio until. I finished playing a CD in the 6 disc changer and it failed to switch to the next CD. The radio came back on. I hit the CD button and it appeared as though it was activating CD1 it whirred and clicked and then reset to radio. I hit the eject button, nothing. Held it down for Eject All, nothing.
Five minutes prior to this it worked fine. Now I can't play anything, can't eject and it won't let me do anything at all with the CD's. I would appreciate any help or tips beyond going to my dealer as I have already investing $ 1200 in this car in the last month.

I had a similar problem with my 6-disc unit from an STi. I took it apart and checked the motorized arm. Looked like it was off its track so I just re-aligned it and presto.
If worse comes to worse there are many people who sell these units for under $80 and it takes about 10 mins to swap over.

Bump from the dead. Chuck, how easy was it to take the headunit apart? My changer did this today.

Depends on the unit. Some are riveted and some are just philips screws..
I would say its a 6/10 difficulty rating.
If you can open it then its just a about patients and the right skinny screw drivers.

I took apart an old Alpine I had when the face plate was stolen back in high school.

I cant really help you with this one. I've never opened this style of 6-disc but I would imagine it would be similar. Just pull it out and start unscrewing :-D

OK, thanks. Worst comes to worst, if it doesn't work there is a guy near me with one cheap.
