Mystery Rattle

2005 Legacy 2.5i wagon, 100k miles, makes a rattling/buzzing noise when I let out the clutch. Clutch feels fine. It only happens at low speeds usually in first rarely in second. Suggestions?

Throw out bearing. Or thrust bearings in your motor.

The noise comes from somewhere near the front of the vehicle, but as I said, when I am driving, it is difficult to reduce. No related vibration noise. The noise is so strong that when I drive through a neighborhood echoes the noise of the houses and makes them stop and look in the eyes when they hear the sound.

Sounds like the T.O.B. My car makes a sort of "clop-clop-clop" vibration with the clutch out, and I believe it to be the T.O.B.

dont know much about the tranny but my car rattles cause of the heat shields being so loose
