Random Door Ajar Light

So I was driving down the road the other day and suddenly my door ajar dash light and dome light come on.....and my doors were shut! According to the dash it was on the passenger side. It's done this a few times randomly, anyone have any suggestions on what it is. Haven't really looked at it yet, think it could just be a dirty latch or switch?

On each door jamb below the latch there is a door sensor switch.

To check if they work
" * Open one door at a time and wiggle the switch in as many ways as you possibly can while your assistant watches the light. If there's something flaky going on inside the switch, this just might jar things enough to make the light go off for a moment or two and tell you where the problem is.
* Remove the switches one at a time and disconnect the wires till the light goes off."

You should have one somewhere around the trunk but I am not sure.

Nice info man....I checked the FP door this morning and found that the three screws that hold the latch in place were not tight at all and the latch was wiggling around. I tightened them up, think that was the problem? I'll go check the switch too. Thanks

Its possible since the door locks to the latch. If the latch is loose then the sensor thats squished between the door and the jamb will start to move around and set off the sensor.

Sometimes when I open my passenger door the light wouldn't come on. Looks like the seatbelt got in the way when someone slammed the door. The door sensor switch was cracked and there was a dent on the metal too. It happens... If tightening it didn't help try getting a new one. Their tiny enough I think they would be cheap.

sweet....it hasn't happened since i tightened the latch on the door. all the sensors look fine so i'm thinking this was the problem. especially since i only noticed it around corners and over bumps, i think the latch was moving around enough for the sensor to come off and on. Thanks!
