I stopped by there for a quote on getting my exhaust done (just piecing it together after I had all the parts). I was very impressed by the shop and what they do. the walls are covered with all the magazines that theirs cars have been featured in. I talked with them for a good hour and a half and they took me into the work area and showed everything they do and let me poke around the cars they were working on. Just great over all very knowledgeable and very friendly.

Labor was high ($110/hr) but the quality of their work and knowledge justifies it.

Just wanted to point them out as another possible source for parts and definitely engines. Rumor has it that they have done 3 1,000 BHP STI's

When it comes to fab work you pay for materials on top of the labor, thats why its so high.

they quoted me 1,650 for labor alone (15hrs max at $110/hr standard rate for all work). I have all the piping pre bent to their specs, flanges, gaskets, header, wrap, cat, resonator, hangers, flex section, and muffler so no extra cost there.

yeah that is outrageous to weld up an exhaust ..
I got a few over the phone quotes here where i live, to add some pipe, and move a few hangers.
was quoted it would be around $100-200 depending where I chose to go..
good luck.. and hope you find a better deal then that.

I got 250 quoted to me from a guy near my house in WV. I am just unsure of the quality of his work. He seemed busy enough though.

maybe ask in a way without offending the guy, if he doesn't mind you taking a look at his work.
in my experience with exhaust shops (not that I have a whole lot) is that they seem to be pretty cool, and laid back

$110/hr is high but not ridiculous. The shop I work for charges $95/hr for certain repair jobs. A high-end fab shop would easily charge more. It costs a lot to pay for highly skilled workers.

What's ridiculous is the amount of time they quoted. Only way that could even be remotely justifyable was if they were making you a set of custom headers. Building a cat-back system with the proper tools should only take a couple hours tops on these cars.

exactly, if i had the money I'd pay it as they would fix any issues that the knock off headers had which is why the labor estimate was soo high. Also the piece of mind know my car would be in excellent hands with a good reputation.
