I am in the process of converting my twin turbo EJ20R 96 GTB from Twin Turbo to Single STI setup for reliability. This is in a competition only race car:

I had a post on ROM Raider and someone replied that ECU cannot be made compatible beacuse of a difference in Cam Gear triggers. Has anyone such a swap? As I am rewiring, can it be as simple as offseting the firig order to have them align? Also, can open source change the tiiming enough to compensate for this?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Given your engine is an EJ20R, I assume your Engine and ECU was orifginally from a Manual JDM GTB?
i.e 3 yellow plugs to the ECU?

if so
get a Version3/ 4 JDM STi ECU $150-$200 from JDM importers and it will plug and play with your GTB ECU plugs.

you will need to make a few minor changes to the Ignition coil wiring at the ECU (due to the STi being wasted spark) but your stock coils will run fine as wasted spark
you will also need to wire in the IAT sensor to the V3 STi ECU.
that's it, it will run.

i have pinouts for the V3 STi and possibly GTB aswell

This is the exact TT-T conversion i will perform on my own JDM GT Legacy
i.e Version3 STi Spec
However due to my car being an early Automatic GT, my entire ECU loom will need to be re-pinned to suit the ECU
