airbox/intake questions.

im wondering if theres a way i can do a short ram intake and get rid of that airbox.maybe have the intake cone sitting right under the hoodscoop opening like a TMIC......but there are 3 hoses that attatch to the air box,well 2 i think one attachs to the pipe that the MAF and cone attatch to.......is there a DIY somewhere,or does anyone here know how it could be done,cheaply.....thanks in advance

Pretty much any of the non turbo impreza and legacy intakes will bolt on and will have bungs for the vacuum hoses. Check through the DIY, there are a few intake articles there.

As for the hood scoop thing, it'd be hard because you'd need the MAF right in front of the intake manifold. You'd need a panel filter and a box to house it. Doable I'm sure, but it'd be pretty tough.

I'm going to be lazy and not get you the link. You should look into the DIY section and look at the eBay intake thread. Very easy to do, won't sit the filter under the scoop though. I know they have a kit for the BE/BH crowd to locate the filter under the scoop.
