I opened my sunroof this evening on my drive home from work, when I got home, it wouldn't close all the way. I have tried pressing down on the air diverter thing. I have tried pushing on the sunroof as well to help it close, it didn't budge. I then tried to open it back all the way, and it gets stuck about half way open. Once again pushing as an assistance doesn't help any.

You can see it here. The motor is working, it moves at a good speed, but it gets "hung up" it seems.

Any suggestions?

When that happened to me the gasket around the sunroof got stuck in the back.

I looked at the gasket. and from what I can tell there is no contact with it where the sunroof jams up. :(
I have tried pressing down and up on it while pressing the button, but it wont move more than 4" either way before getting hung up on something.

I took out my headliner, and was trying to look at the tracks and see if it is getting stuck on something that might have gotten lodged in them, and I didn't see or feel anything. :(
The sunroof does make a slight scratching noise when opening and closing. I tried lubing it up, and still wont open farther or close completely.

Well for some magical reason, I accidentally bumped the button on my sunroof and it closed!
So I decided I will leave it closed. :)

Maybe it got jammed up due to debris trapping in the sunroof area. Spray some penetrant along the tracks, see if that helps.

This happened to my 98 LGT. There's something wrong with the track.
I had to get a new sunroof assy.

The dealer price was 1500 + labour = over $2000 in Toronto
US price was 680.00

I ended finding one from a scrap yard. I kept my old glass and motor.
It's a two person job because the assy is huge...the whole roof.
But I paid 135.00 for it from the Standard Auto wreckers and installed it myself.
It takes a few hours.

I was going to get one for $50 and have it installed for free but if i really want to open mine i can get it to.
