ruin the Ej25 even more. :'( first they handed a death kiss via headgasket. I did the nail with the oil.

"Castrol 10W-40.
New oil filter.

pull off old filter, do drain plug and drain oil. nasty nasty deep black color, ugly.

Clean off pan bolt, reapply it. put on oil filter with no oil in it.

Fill it up with a whole 5 quart bottle of 10w-40, made it drink every last drop.

Check oil level 4 times, its at the good range (so happy)

go start car slowly (ready to stop igniton at second) hear knocking, metal on metal CONTACT!

go oh **** oh **** oh ****, let it start only for one turn of the engine.

waited a few minutes more, like 5-10 mins. did it again, one 1st/2nd spin I hear some knocking immediatley turn it off.

take off cars oil filter, filled it up with oil and placed some oil around the metal contact inside the o-ring, hand torqued it.

When i took the filter off; there was really no oil in it, just a dab here and there if that.

Went to start car, let it go for 2-3 rotations, and heard metal on metal contact, turned car off immediatley, and now I'm here; sad."

Theres no point in this thread, just warning.. ;-; now time for a new engine.

every heard a ford start up after a oil change? they rap for a good 5-10 seconds running before they build oil pressure. let it run for a short time to let it build oil pressure

I let it idle for 15 mins, its done. bearing has spun and is loose inside the crank.

It drives all okay and such until I hit about 3500-4000 RPM and then makes the horrible noise ever. :( and initial startup.

Oh well.. if the headgasket didn't get it. I did. :(

ohh i guess what i took from reading it. the engine was let to run for more then a few seconds.

odd that it would oil change would cause a mystery spun bearing. maybe a lifter collapsed?

Yeh people are saying it could be lifter.... you're the 4th person. :D

I'm not sure the EJ25 was available with hydraulic lifters. If it was, it was only for 1 year. Otherwise, they were all solid which...eh, don't collapse.

Look, if you drained tar out of the engine, which is what it seems you are describing, either the engine is poorly maintained, or it got royally cooked (overheated when head gasket failed?), or you got coolant in the crankcase. Any combination of which could cause bearing failure. Running the engine for a short bit with no oil pressure while the oil filter filled up may have been just enough to finish it off. That shouldn't cause any damage on a good running engine, but apparently it can on an old, busted one.

Your valve guides could be obliterated.

"Zak" had the same issue. Head Gasket went on him, he decided to machine his heads during the tear down process the machine shop called him and asked him to come in. 2 Valve guides were GONE. Obliterated/destroyed/vanished. 4 other valve guides were in rough shape. This in the end made sense since his car was burning oil and sounded like a metal grinder above 4000 rpm.

You don't blow your motor from changing oil correctly. Something else is the issue.
