Best BD mods

Im new to modding my 98 Legacy and dont really know whats all available for these cars and what is actually a worth while mod. So Im wondering what everyone has to say about the best mods. I wanna start doing something just to improve my car overall and make it nicer. And if anyone has some mods that maybe arnt the best out there but are cheap Im willing to hear those as well.

id start by reading some of the threads here on the forum. You can learn a lot of stuff that way. Start with suspension, exhaust, lightweight crank pulley, tires, header, etc.

Thats what I have been doing so far since I joined. Asking a few questions here and there. It just seems that anytime I start to think about something or hear about it I go to search for it and its too common to be searched for, so I learn nothing. I just wanted to get an idea of everyones personal experiences with things and see how they enjoyed it and weather it would be something I would like to do or not. But I will continue to browse everything and see what I can learn

imho the wisest mod path is as follows*:

1. bushings- as applies:
steering rack
shifter bushings

2. suspension- in roughly this order
swaybars
struts
preformance springs

3. exhaust
headers
axle back
bigger resonator

4. intake
hybrid intake**

5. exterior
jdm projectors
wheels
jdm tails



this is very generic and limited to some the more "bang for your buck" type mods

a good starting point is exhaust/intake/rims/suspension, depending on whats more important to you.

well performance isnt huge, given that my car is a 2.2 with an auto. but anything i can do for performance that wont break the bank is an option. and i would like the exterior to look good but im not going to go too outrageous with it, same with the interior.

The first time you honk at a Jaywalker, or rude person in a car, the Hella Supertones will immediately become your favorite mod. :-)

Do the wheels first. Upgrading those 14" steel wheels to even just some 16" WRX takeoffs make the car look a lot nicer and then you have a lot of options for performance tires too to improve the handling. And OEM takeoffs are cheap!

In order, for me...

1) Trans swap (auto trans is so boring)
2) Suspension (Tein Flex coilovers for me)
3) Wheels/tires (STI wheels)
4) JDM Projectors with Infinity FX projectors and HIDs retrofitted (stock headlights are way outdated as far as light output goes)

A trans swap is definitely on my list of things I would like to do, but I dont see it happening soon. If I were to do it I would also do a WRX swap at the same time.
The suspension is something I may do here soon
And I would like new wheels for sure. But my tires are only about a year old and do great all year round, so I will probably wait till the next time I need tires to upgrade wheels, unless I find a good deal somewhere.
And JDM headlights with an HID retro is probably the first thing I will do. What are better projectors, FX's or TSX's? And where is the best place to buy and how much?

The FXs are bi-xenon so they are better in my opinion. I think the TSXs are a bit less expensive and more compact so they might be easier to retro, but they are just low beams, and I really like being able to flip on the highbeams and have daylight in front of me. I had someone else retro them for me since I wanted it to look professional and I've never done it before, but I know he got the parts from The Retrofit Source.

And yes, you can set up the bi-xenons to work that way with the existing halogen high beams...thats what I've got on my car. The stock halogen highbeams in the JDM headlights are surprisingly bright for what they are, so it is a good addition.

Jdm headlights were the difference between seeing nothing and seeing what is in front of you. Expect to pay up to 200 bucks for a set. Well worth my money.

yea i would start with projectors. i just got mine of ebay the other day for 127 bucks shipped! which i think is a great deal. just be patient until you find a good price. :smt023

i agree with the projectors. Makes your nose look mean and is necessary if you get a grill. Deffinetaly will turn heads.

This definitely shows the power of OLE modded pedal, as I am staying in my little office 2X10 solid state amp the amp is in store Toob HTE. I must say I like my amp to cut a bit brighter when I solo, so keep that in mind. I usually play with a slight delay in the BD-2 sounds best in a situation where the whole band sounds really IMO.
