Hey guys! Some of you may rememeber me with a 1998 legacy wagon (Thread here: viewtopic.php?t=14946 (https://sl-i.net/FORUM/viewtopic.php?t=14946) ) but it was giving me too many problems and needed a reliable car so I bit the bullet and got a 2005 Legacy GT Wagon!!

Niceeee ride. I was looking for a used 5mt lgt wagon a while ago, but I founds something a lot better for a lot cheaper.
I like the blue, gold or bronze wheels set off the paint nicely.

Love the wagons!!!
And yes, that exhaust is total win.
Just be sure to(if you didn't already) read up about the dreaded turbo banjo bolt screen and the oil pick up tube while you're at it.
Long story short, got rear ended december 3rd getting repaired now :)

Oh shit... thats a bummer. It seems like it only happens to cars you love.. had my truck 3 years.. never been hit or anything. Had my outback XT for two weeks before some one backed into it and a month after that I got rear ended... idiot drivers..
well it looks alot worse then what it is, there is absolutly nothing wrong with the car, the subframe or suspensions were not hit, even the floor was fine :)
So my whole front end is getting repainted so all the rock chips will be gone :D :D
Also should be picking up some 17" Prodrive GC-05A's next week!!

It looked nice. Are you keeping the original color?
yepperz
so just want to write down a few future goals I would like to get done this summer:
-Build my own Heatshield for my intake
-Drain all drivetrain fluids and replace with Subaru Extra-S fluid
-Fix my broken stock grille and paint it to replicate a JDM SpecB grille
-Stoptech Rotors upfront
-Figure out what damn light bulbs I want! I must have been through like 10 different sets and i'm not happy with anything yet!
Here are the painted pics, looks better then what it is, our shitty old paint booth's doors barely close so its full of dust particles everywhere but on the bright side i'm getting payed to sand and polish my own car ;D

yeah, I'd be good with coffee sometime. I'll let you know, it'd have to be pretty quick after though, I've had a buyer that wanted my Legacy for the last month, and he's still wants it, but baaa-aad now.. even though it needs repair. So we'll have to do this in the first couple days I get this back I think.

Funny thing about that is that I actually have another pair! :D I was thinking of putting them on the STi this weekend, but ultimately glad I didn't, had a parking lot at the Zoo with a good 6 to 8 inches of snow in it today. The rest of the roads are dry.
Only rims I ever curbed too :( I was heading out to a JDM meet, made a right turn from a stop, and my GPS fell off. I lunged to grab it, and heard a crunch. So heartbroken to see how bad they got it. Rest of the rims are in good shape, and they will look VERY slick on Zac's car! I can't wait!
Well looks like I will have to wait even longer to put these on now :(
I have to somehow find $200 to buy all the pills I was prescribed yesterday and hopefully my insurance company will cover my physio therapy.

Ahh, sucky deal man. At least you're getting some help though. Your insurance doesn't cover any medication??
It looks like it's going to be okay to roll on winters for a while longer though, I heard this AM that we're going to get 10 to 15cm of wet, sloppy snow coming up here soon.

My work benefits dont cause I took the smallest package, I have to call my insurance again tomorow and hopefully they can cover them as well with my physio, went tonight and got a bunch of forms to fill out.
Took it to the shop yesterday to clean it and started work on my grille! My old one broke from the accident so I started cutting it out and filling in the cracks and holes.

Cross posts from my WSC build thread:
so I finally finished painting the winter rims yesterday and went ahead and installed them today!

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2011/10/IMG_20111016_131636-1.jpg
also wanted to do an oil change and remove the banjo bolt filter, was pretty tight and had to call Kenny for his assistance and his Masters in Physics and leverage saved the day!
First I went out and aquired the special dealer tool for the banjo bolt filter removal:
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2011/10/IMG_20111016_125416-1.jpg
After removing the turbo heatshield this is what it looked like underneath :-\
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2011/10/IMG_20111016_095304-2.jpg
Heres the filter, clean as a whistle with almost 150,000km on it, seems kinda fishy...
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2011/10/IMG_20111016_125906-2.jpg
So 2 top bolts were completly missing the nuts and the filter looked brand new, was the turbo replaced beforehand perhaps?
So when I got into my accident I ended up getting a whole new catback, after it was installed it was still leaking so it was sent out to an exhaust shop to fix the leak >:(
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2011/10/IMG_20111016_095353-2.jpg
My engine cover was only held on by 2 zip ties and I guess it had been vibrating enough to start eating away at the intake manifold so i'm on the lookout for an aftermarket belt cover.

Still trying to track down my rough idle issue, My year of legacy are known for having dirty injectors but another alternative is the oil control valves for the AVCS being all gummed up. I was able to pull the drivers side one out about half way, looked clean so I still suspect it is the injectors.
After I reconnected the battery and started it I ended up with a PO2016, TGV low voltage or something so i'll have to look into that too.
if anyone was wondering what or where the banjo bolt is its right ontop of the up-pipe stud in this picture.

loving the pink wheels......dare to be different!!!!
Haha thanks! They are just winter rims though!
Looking to sell or trade my prodrives for a set of 18' s though.
What a unsuccessful weekend. All I ended up doing is causing more damage.
Wish I knew before undertaking the TGV sensor replacement that theres not enough room between the IM and turbo to pull it off the spline so its staying like this until I can afford TGV deletes and my car towed down to sunny for a protune (TGV deletes without a tune puts the car in limp mode >:( )

My drivers and pass side doors are peeling around the door handles (bad prepping)
So those are getting repainted under warrenty, so while its all appart i'll fix the fender and hood, probablly next summer.
So if I get cash clutch+flywheel are going in.
Had a friend do a T-belt change and coolant flush on my wagon thursday night. at about 151,000KM, belt had 3 cracks in it, 2 idlers were making noise and the tensioner was leaking a little. Definetly happy I had it done sooner then later. Broke a nipple on my rad so a quick fix until I am able to order a Mishimoto one.

Not really a turbo build, just bought a replacement turbo since our stock VF40's tend to blow.

Ok so you didn't re-use the original fan assembly with the new rad?
Also, never realized we had plastic rads in ou BL/BPs ;) I'll know to make the change if I pop a leak as well. How expensive was it (rad + new fans + needed parts)? Is it an easy DIY or you need professionnal help? How long did it take?
Thanks

Yes I reused the stock fan assembly and overflow tank, I wish I would have bought the slim fans since there isnt much room.
The rad itself was about $300 shipped.
Had a friend help me out, its pretty straight forward, again it would have been a lot easiyer if you buy the slim fan kit.

why argue? EL's are for more power both in NA and boosted Subaru's.
People argue about losing the boxer rumble and such, porting stock headers are better blah blah
So I picked up a used EL header last weekend, It looks like some sort of Tomei Replica, welds look great, piping size doesnt seem to thin so I went for it.
It was wrapped and used for about 5000km or so the previous owner said, I decided to take the wrap off and just coat it to help its longivity.

Did you get a chance to get this EL header on? Im curious of how it sounds. Ive heard different stories about them....
Actually sold it too a buddy who put it on his 02 wrx rally car, after hearing it I regretted my decision immidietly.
In the end I didn't want to have a header that would need replacing down the road as all aftermarket headers besides the KillerB one will crack eventually.

Why didnt you upgrade to an 07 solid Flywheel/clutch setup? I did that for one of my customers with an 05 XT OB and he loves it!
Just wondering...
That was the original plan as I had purchased a Spec Stage2+ for 06 wrx fitment.
The same seller that sold me that clutch also sold me the flywheel but he thought it was a single mass one. And since I am in Canada I got raped on postage so I am sending back the clutch so it would be cheaper.
All in all I'm kinda glad I'm sticking Dual mass, I live in a city and have a huge road trip planned next year so the dual mass will suit my needs better.

Hard to tell, whenever it hits boost all I get is wheelspin in this weather ;)
Overall its a great mod, drivability is much better, smoother drive by wire.
What I love the best is how it holds the wastegate closed until it hits target boost so ultimately you get much faster spool up and a huge rush of power at once, I can see why they werent tuned like this from factory :D

On my logs I have only hit 14.4 due to slippery roads, I think tonite i'll go around the city to see if I can find a place where I can get the car under full load to see if it actually hits that high.
Bought some 06 SpecB rims as a Xmas present to myself
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2013/01/8xiNo-1.jpg
Got them for very cheap since the PO thinks 2 of them are bent but I have some hookups through work to check them out to see if they need any repair.
Tire plans are 225/40/R18 Michelin Pilot Super Sports
My Prodrives are now for sale.

:-( I did .. 3 years ago before my father passed away.. Thats why my track project is crawling to completion .
I am glad you part of the "death by lung complication" industry. Its rewarding when you turn devastation into factory finish.

Fast Pass life style.. no time for safety.. same with eye protection... I cant stand ppl using cut off wheels without face protection.. I've had a few disc explode on me and the aftermath takes weeks to heal.
Anyways glad your Legacy is getting better and better!
Cheers to life and modifications!

I love those SpecB rims. I want a set so bad but I just don't have the cash. That is why I chose to go with P1s, they are along the same lines as the SpecB rims style-wise.

Would you believe I picked these up for $450 shipped? Keep an eye out on legacygt.com in the wheels for sale section, Want a Prodrive Shift knob? I no longer need it! lol
I need some opignions, I accendentally ripped my rear seats when transporting my tool box to my new shop, For a while I wanted to convert to a newer SpecB interior, blue alcacantra similar to STi's or we got the weird red colour in 2006.

Really happy how the car feels now, super firm but also absorbs dips and potholes nicely.
HUGE UPDATES, Havent been around much due to work but here goes.
In July I finally got some track time!
Got the Technafit steel braided brake lines, Grimmspeed Master cylinder brace installed and flushed with ATE Super Blue fluid, Made quite the difference and am very pleased with the purchase.
