quaife helical diffs for leggys

i stumbled across this page while i was looking into the audi quattro diffs and and did a search for my car just for giggles, and to my surprise it actually came up with results!! To the best of my noobish knowledge they use these as front diffs in the lancer evo series and is pretty much the same helical design as the TORSEN diffs that are popular for putting power to both wheels. Has anyone seen these or tried them before? of coarse any opinions or corrections in my information would be appreciated.

i have used them before and love them. i will be going back to them. mechanical diff's can be very loud, so be ready for ppl to tell you your diff is broke. go with them.

The mechanical LSDs that are noisy are typically lockers, and they end up being noisy because they have gears that are designed to ratchet once they get under enough load, and the ratcheting is noisy. Not really ideal for handling anyway because they are so clunky, more for drag racing. Clutched LSDs are much better for sport driving purposes, and aren't that noisy as long as they don't have a ridiculous amount of preload and the lubricant is correct.

these arnt clutched LSD these are torque sensing helical units i believe

Helical diffs are kind of a comprimise, not as limp-wristed as a VLSD, but by my understanding they still don't have quite the holding power of a clutched LSD. Probably would work fine for most applications. I know VAG uses them for their AWD systems, at least the older ones.
