hey guys long time no post.

just got another Legacy. its a 99 model Outback
2.5L DOHC and yes the gaskets were done already

some repairs needed:
Windsheild
Grill
Exhaust leak
Speed-o Some times works
Gas Gauge Slow and some times drops to E. possibly ground wire ?
Rough Idle but drives fine.

am I seeing right that you have a one piece on the left and a 2 piece on the right?

If it's an auto it may just be a bad speed sensor causing speedo to not work. Same thing happened to me.

Yup. the left side is from an older Legacy. thats how i got it

i was afraid of that.

on youtbe i seen a video were a guys puts a screw in between the blue connection.

I tried that and for me it didn't work, since mine was auto the problem was the speed sensor on the tranny.

i know that mt trannies have a speed sensor as well. i have seen them on 2nd and 3rd gens, but not 1st. they have a mechanical one.

the original owner hit a deer. and the guy i got it off of bought it from him and was fixing it.
i seen it on craigslist and offered my xt6 for it.

still has rough idle.

Also, any CEL (check engine light) or other warning lights?

Did you fix the exhaust leak? Guage issue? (Possibly crappy gas? Or you rally do have a bad ground)

Exhaust leak is Fixed yes. gauge hasn't messed up in awhile. still slow but deal able.

as crazy as it sounds. it Worked !

its a simple Bad Connection and moving it over to get a good connection is my guess what happens.

well if it comes down to it you can cut out your speedo and tach sections and put in after market stuff. I am sure that they have digital ones

i rearranged the decals on the hatch. moved outback to the left and moved the awd up with out putting the legacy Decal back on.

Cool! nice grill! I think the subaru thing looks a little funny tho, since it's being split by the original emblem.
The wheels look good too, but I think they're just regular 15" outback rims, not the 16" GT rims.

tomorrow i might be putting a 2.2L in it. the 2.5L is trouble oil leaks galore. but i plan on replacing the gaskets and maybe put it back in.

The Clutch and back of engine are completely soaked in oil. the trans case were the engine meets Soaked !
