View Full Version : Block swap 25 replacing a 22

It's been awhile since I have been around a EJ25D block. I want to swap it inplace of my EJ22 block and keep the cammed 22 heads. The 22 doesn't have an EGR system like the 25. Does anyone know of any techniques to block this up. Maybe a bolt on plate of the sorts??

like i said, they make em, I came across it when I was looking for replacement gaskets for it.

It says its for a Chevy I'm guessing with I'm sure it'll work fine with a subaru. It's literally probably a .015 inch plate of shaped aluminum with maybe a oring gasket and properly placed thru holes.

that feeder tube, it runs from the EGR near the IM down to the block? right...?
edit, actually isn' the EGR portion just part of the block itself, since it is dealing with the exhaust gases

^ but exhaust gases don't deal with the block, they deal with the heads, exhaust and IM system....all of which will be reused during a block swap and all of which wont have any egr stuff (in this case).... i don't know where it goes into the block or why it matters..... still confused.... :smt017

reason, dont worry about your lack of egr, like statgsr said the block isn't in the egr equation. just the heads and IM

Exactly! I was up all last night in bed racking my brain about this. Then I remember it was on the drivers side head to the IM. I was thinking that it would be too good to be true if it were, but thanks for confirming for me. Time to pull that EJ25D have it cleaned and rebuilt!

Dr Okin, I was there all day today working on my car. Swapped out the cats and installed the rest of my shifter bushings, I'll be there tomorrow night if you plan on being there.
