Where to purchase new A/C parts?

The car is a 99 Anniv. Wagon, Phase II 2.2L SOHC

I am looking to redo almost the entire A/C system. I've been looking for a new or reman compressor but locally the prices are ridiculous and rockauto isn't much better. Would any of you know where to find a compressor for a decent price online?

AC parts new or remaned are expensive everywhere. Anything to do with a pressurized system are - like the powersteering pump.
It's just a very expensive system to repair or replace.

I realize that. However, I just swapped in a new AC compressor in my Tahoe which was only $230 shipped. A reman made by the same manufacturer for my subaru costs $330 + $53.00 core charge. What gives?

low market share, even now with increased sales subaru only makes up around 2% of the car market here in the states, there arn't very many people buying rebuild ac compressors for subarus so they get to charge more

Is your compressor bad?

If it isn't bad, I wouldn't replace it, because most reman or aftermarket new compressors are crappy compared to the OE one. If you must get a new one, as much as it will hurt the pocket book, I'd get a Subaru one.

BTW, you've got to realize, the engine in your Tahoe is also used in several other cars, trucks, vans, etc, so there are literally millions of them out there. Subaru doesn't sell that many cars, so even though the same AC compressor is used on many different (older) EJ engines, it probably doesn't come anywhere near to how many of the Tahoe ones are out there.

Just be glad it isn't a Mercedes. It would be over $1000 and probably be several weeks away.

i have the entire ac system from my 98 30th anniv. in my garage.

i'd be willing to get you whatever you need.

Also, only use a NEW A/C accumulator/dryer. It has a desiccant in it that removes any stray moisture from your A/C system, but it will also collect moisture from the air if it is left open and ruin it.
