View Full Version : After Market radio - my antenna stopped going up/down?

I installed an after market radio into my BD like everyone else dose with a car from the 90s and up and always wanted to know. How come my antenna stopped going up and down after the aftermarket radio was installed??

did you plug the antenna/ect relay to the amp turn on switch?

its usually the blue wire on wiring harnesses. It'll give the signal to the antenna motor to activate, much like it would tell an amp to turn on to power speakers.

wait wut?

I mean the wire that controls the antenna thats in your dash. It connects to the stock radio and when turned on, lets the antenna know to activate and go up.

When you installed the aftermarket radio, guessing you used some kind of wiring harness that came with it, there was a plug that was blue that was described as a amp/antenna relay. Thats the wire that corresponds to the subaru one to turn on the antenna to make it go up.

To tell you the truth, I'm not even sure about that only because I had it done at a place, I didn't do it myself.
I always was thinking it could be that wire not being connected but I would of thought that who ever installed it hooked everything back together.

Most places warrantee their work for like 30 days, tell them that your antenna doesnt work anymore and they should be able to fix it

if you had a place do it, and your antenna doesnt work. tell them, they should fix it easy. probally didnt hook up the signal wire for the antenna (blue wire) because they miss seeing you had a power antenna

Most aftermarket radios have an output specifically for the power antenna, just needs to get hooked up to the factory harness. If your radio doesn't have one, it should have a remote amp turn-on lead that you could use too, but the downside there is that the antenna will be up anytime the stereo is on, regardless of whether you are listening to the radio or a CD/MP3.
