so i just got my hood dampers in the mail from gimmick motorsports. they look great realy well made construction, they have a very oem look. i order the ones for the GC8 and they worked fine
links:
www.gimmickmotorsports.com (http://www.gimmickmotorsports.com) (www.gimmickmotorsports.com/shop/index.p ... oductId=20 (http://www.gimmickmotorsports.com/shop/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=20))
www.importimageracing.com/ (http://www.importimageracing.com/)
total install time was about 20 min could be less but i was stoping to take pics
ok so its not the hardest install i have ever done. but the directions i got were kinda hard to read and the diagrams were hard to see becuse of a bad printing job.
tools needed for install
12mm socket
10mm socket
small extion
socket rench
10mm end rench
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2010/08/IMG_09361-1.jpg

first remove the second bolt in from the front of the car on the fender on each side with the 10mm socket
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2010/08/IMG_0914-1.jpg

next take the ball head bolt that came in the kit put the small washer on it
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2010/08/IMG_0916-1.jpg

then take the rubber bump stop for the hood from the driver side and put it upside down on the passager side ( not a must but i did it to lessen the impact of the hood when i let it down)
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2010/08/IMG_0915-1.jpg

bolt the ball head bolt and the bump stop back in to the finder with the 10mm end rench (you might be able to use a 10mm deep socket but the one i had was not deep enought)
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2010/08/IMG_0913-1.jpg

now remove the bolt from the top of the hood hinge with the 12mm socket
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2010/08/IMG_0923-1.jpg

remove one of the bracket the a large washer and a star washer from the kit ( the bracktes should be labled with a L for left and R for right if not the ball head of the bracket should be facing towards the out side of the car and should be at the top of the hood hinge)
the brackets will bolt in in this order bolt then washer, then the breaket, then star washer. this will all go on top of the the hood hinge
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2010/08/IMG_0922-1.jpg

now bolt the the bracket to the hood hinge
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2010/08/IMG_0925-1.jpg

take out one of the dampers from the kit and mock it up ( you might need to skrew the top end of the damper up or down so that the opening of the ball is twords each one of the ball heads)

now take the damper and remove the the lock snap pin at the top or the smaller of the two ends
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2010/08/IMG_0919-1.jpg
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2010/08/IMG_0920-1.jpg

now snap the smaller end into place on the ball head on the bracket on the hood hinge
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2010/08/IMG_09261-1.jpg

now replace the the lock snap pin
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2010/08/IMG_0927-1.jpg

now remove the lock snap pin form the large end or the bottom
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2010/08/IMG_0928-1.jpg
now snap it on to the ball head on the fender
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2010/08/IMG_0929-1.jpg
now replace the lock snap pin
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2010/08/IMG_09301-1.jpg
now repeat on the other side and you are finshed

Interesting.. I see what you mean by "slotted design" but do you have any shots with the hood closed?

And there's no rubbing whats so ever?

no rubbing at all, i will take some shots of the hood closed and put them up later but it looks normal

do they make one for the BE/BH
no but there bracket is slotted so it might work but i don't know foreshore. you can call them, they answered all of my ? over the phone but i would not take there word on it working because in the end it was made for a different car. make shore who ever u order them from will let u return them if it looks like it wont fit and do some mock up and take some measurement before u install like i did i got mine from www.importimageracing.com (http://www.importimageracing.com) because gimmick told me he buys them out

Looks good but can you finish off this DIY with shots of the inside to show that there is no rubbing. Its not that we don't trust you its just that were skeptical.

Oh by the way Prodrive hawt-ness.

Money well spent IMO. The hood prop is always in the way when working on the car. Plus it just looks cooler :)

I am down for a set also, that sure would beat grabbing my hood prop from the trunk and holding the hood up with my head while fumbling the prop into it's hole!

can you measure the length of the hood damper when fully extended? I can compare the mounting points on the BE/BH and there's a 50/50 possibility this can also work on those cars.

Any update on this and whether or not GC hood dampers fit on BE/BH?

Update? Thanks ahead of time... I'm hoping that these will fit on BE/BH Legacies as it will increase the selection that we can choose from...
