Okay so I have a 00 Legacy GT Limited with an automatic transmission that I want to swap out for a manual (of course just like everyone else). My friend has a 02 Forester with a manual transmission however she wants an automatic, well u see where I'm going with this.
I've been lurking around the forums doing research and from what I've seen I believe the new transmission will fit.
My Legacy: TY754VCADA 3.454 2.062 1.448 1.088 0.780 N/A 3.333 1.000 4.111 Viscous (4kgf) Open
Forester: TY755VC2AA 3.545 2.111 1.448 1.088 0.780 N/A 3.333 1.000 4.111 Viscous (4kgf) Open
The first two gears are a little bit different, however the final drives match up which was my biggest concern. The parts that I have seen I will need to invest in are
Flywheel
Clutch
Pressure Plate
Front Driveshaft section
Entire shifter assembly
Clutch and brake pedals, cables
Clutch master cylinder and reservoir (for hydraulic systems)
Transmission crossmember
Rear Differential
My questions are A: Am I correct will this fit? B: What could I possibly salvage from the setup of the Forester that she will no longer need. Lastly what would she need to allow the automatic to run? Not looking to upgrade the performance just keep it as completely stock as possible.
I am still semi new in the subaru world. I have had my BE for about 2 months now and I am just trying to get educated. Not trying to be another newcomer asking you guys to do my research for me. Just want to make sure what I have found thus far is correct and am open to other thoughts and opinions.
