tonight, my driver's side hid just wouldnt turn on.
i tried replacing both ballast and bulb but the driver's side still wouldnt light up.

i tested the bulb on the other side and it's working perfectly.
I have a separate relay that power both sides with 1 plug on the driver's side. I am not too sure if it makes sense but if there is something wrong with the relay, wouldnt both sides will stop working instead of just 1?

i also check the fuse in the fuse box which is perfectly fine as well.

any help would be MUCH appreciated!

Does this happen when the HIDS are off and you turn your car on then turn the HIDs on?

I would test the a multi-meter:
-relay and check if its switching properly.
-power coming from the head light harness

Also make sure its getting a proper ground.. could DEFINITELY be a bad ground somewhere.

i always turn off my hid before i turn off the car.
Like i mentioned before, I only use the plug from driver's side to power both headlights.
What i dont understand is that if there is something wrong with the plug, arent both sides will stop working?

i will try to find the ground for the driver side which i had no idea where it is

Not really if you have to much juice coming through one line powering two items, usually one item will take as much juice as possible and leave not enough current to power the other.

Its kind of like the "path of least resistance"

When I wired up the RSK HIDs for my buddy I couldnt use the passenger wires since they were so thin the igniter wouldn't fire, more flicker quickly.

I ran the Driverside through the harness since the gauge of wire was thicker and could properly ignite the HID.

The passenger side I ran an external 12v wire fused 30am from the battery directly to the HID. And use the passenger side harness to control the HI/Low switching.

i am guessing the best thing to do right now is to get some electrical cleaner to clean the stock plug and replace the harness?

Bahh way to much work.

You see you passenger side is still getting power from the driverside harness. This would lead to me to believe that the relay and the harness works fine. Why not just do what I suggested and give the head light an external 12v source that's fused. Just leave everything else stock just the + wire for the ballast. The HID wont come on if the cars off since the ground is linked to the ignition.

this alone sounds very complicated to me already hahaha

good luck to me

Yeah.. electrical shit can be a pain in the ass to bend your mind around sometimes. I would definitely check the ground wires on headlights, as well as on anything else to do with the HID system first before doing anything else too drastic. It may not be obvious by just looking at them if they are getting a good ground or not, so take a spare wire and hook it DIRECTLY to your negative side on the batt.. then try to ground out any negative wires / connections on the headlights / HID system up to the wire running directly to the batt.. it might help figure out if its a bad ground or not.

Take a wire going from the battery and connect it to your Power wire for the HID ballast. Put a fuse in between the battery and a ballast. You have aftermarket ballast this cant get any easier.

And man D1gi is really pushing this grounding issue so give it a shot.

Why not do both.

Take two wires one from the + terminal on the battery and on from the - terminal and connect them to the + / - on your ballast. If it fires up you have a current issue with your harness.

Good luck

Hehehe so after all you were right!

" it's now fixed...
no wonder i couldnt find the ground wire on the driver's side because it was snapped :P

now it is all good"

LOL! hahaha i forgot to reply this thread last night...

all my wires were wrapped together and hide somewhere near the battery which made my life so much harder to find the ground wire

hell yeah.. glad you got it fixed. stupid ground wires always causing trouble!
