Lately I've been hitting fuel cut at 11 psi. I don't have an FCD installed yet but it shouldn't be hitting cut that soon I don't think. Also, I can only hit fuel cut in 4th gear that's when I get the most boost creep. I have no codes, any ideas?

Talk to Matt, he knows all too well about hitting fuel cut. He has a FCD installed on his SS. He had some problems last year at the Subaru Shoot Out while going down the track and possibly hitting fuel cut even with a FCD installed.

You might be getting FC from some other problem besides just boost. If you're running 11 psi without an i/c then it could be from detonation or knock. It could be that the O2 sensor is reading weird or that it's a misfire too. I know you said it's not throwing a CEL but if any part of sensor system isn't working properly then it could cause FC in theory.

Like Jason said (and you already know Scott) I have a FCD installed and will still get FC sometimes. Especially when it's hot out and I'm running over 14 psi. I have gotten FC as low as 10 psi even with the FCD installed though and it wasn't caused by the MAP signal. It was still capped and the ECU was cutting fuel. So, the MAP signal alone is not the only factor for the ecu to induce FC, like some try to say.

I'll try some higher octane fuel and see if it persists.

higher octane fuel? What have you been running?

I've been using 91.

Hmm, I never run lower then 93 myself. The EJ22T is made to run 91 so you should be ok stock but when you start running more boost, higher octane can make a bit of difference but still, you should be ok.

Heh, this is where a FB or FC is totally different from a Subaru. :p

Get some acetone, if you add the right amount, you can bump your Octane rating up even higher.

The FB I was going to buy as a project car was going to need 80 octane gasoline, since it's a rotary engine... I was going to use heptane to lower the octane rating to about 80.

What EM are you using that's allowing boost creep in 4th gear?

OT, I was like wow the F.B.I. , must be some huge project car!!!!!

LOL I could buy it, and black it out... Well, that still wouldn't make it an FBI car... :p

I still want to supercharge my Legacy, I need to learn more about EM before I can actually mount the SC and get the piping made. :(

What are you reffering to with the FB-FC?

EM has nothing to do with boost creep. You can get creep on any type of EM.

For the record he's running OEM EM though.

Actually, I should have been more precise and said "SA/FB, FC", referring to the RX-7 first, first and a half, and second generations. ;)

Hmm, using the stock turbo, or aftermarket turbo? What wastegate?

You should get some alcohol and just forget about a wastegate. ;)

maybe your fuel system is being pushed passed it's max duty cycle? :smt102
