I was hoping someone would know off the top of their head if a full size spare will fit where the donut is??

Thanks!

good question.. and another question i would like to add on top of this is: If you are running 17" wheels.. what size donut could you use in order to have a spare that will work with the 17's, instead of the 16" stock rims.

very interested to see this info..

A full size 16" will fit but will not bolt down and you can not use the plastic tool case that fits ever so nicely in the spare tire.

So to sum it up.
-Yes it will fit but you cannot lock the wheel in place and you can only use the Masonite (spare tire cardboard cover thingy)

RE: d1giPhux
-You can use 15-16" but you have to match the tire size. If your running a 205/55/R17 then you need a xx/55/Rxx.

As long as the side wall is tall enough to match your others then you should be rolling on an even setup

You should confirm this but in theory it works .

Keep in mind just because the height number is 55 does not mean that your spare tire will have a 55, actually odds are it will be something much larger than 55 since 55 is a percentage of the width not a defined number (on its own). in the example of a 205/55/Rxx the height of the sidewall of the tire will be 112.75mm (55% of 205mm) regardless of the size of the rim.

Always use a tire size calculator if you are unsure...

So my BD didnt come with that nifty spare tire plastic holder thing... I thought those only came on the outbacks... Mine just has the long T handle screw with the little cap that goes over the center of the wheel to screw against. (look at the last picture.)

Also... I am running stock 15" 5 spokes...

Just to clarify... the BD's... (GT or not) came with... or can be equipped with that wheel bucket thing??? Picture below.

Because my jack has its own spot in a compartment in the side of the truck and the handle is held on the underside of the spare tire cover.

Also... what did these come in and would it fit in my BD??? I am talking about the entire organizer.

I still don't get all this spare tire talk.. dammit. Can i just grab a spare tire from a car that came stock with 17" wheels??

edit: Btw.. like they said, ive stuck a full size 16" spare in the back of my car before.. however, you can't keep it locked down.. and i don't think my cover even went over it.

I see that it is a wagon... but has anyone ever tried to see if the organizer would fit over the spare in a BD???

I seriously doubt it would.. theres not much space in the back of our BD's in terms of where the spare goes.. however.. would be cool if it did!

d1giPhux, what size tires do you have on your car? are they they same overall height (diameter) as your stock tires? if so, then your stock spare should be fine. the only thing important about the spare is its diameter, its diameter has to be the same as the diameter of the rest of the tires on your car, or else bad things are going to happen to the diffs as soon as you have to use it.

play with the link i showed you and you should see what kind of impact different tire sizes have on the diameter.

17" BBS won't fit in the spare tire trunk hole. It'll bulge when you put the liner over it.

my brothers 99 SUS he put a full size spare (205-70-15) in there, it pushes up on the bottom on the trunk just a little but it works.
