im considering installing a nitrous purge system (no direct injection into engine) in my legacy. i have a stromung catback and borla header. ive been working on a custom CAI to so my legacy is going to be sounding really good and i figured for a little bite of effect i should install a nitrous purge system with outlets on each side fender (maybe somewhere in the wheel well). what do you guys think, sounds good or am i just going to be wasting my time (purge system will cost me about 500 bucks, i will install it myself with a 10lb bottle). i had this in my civic and it always looked really cool after a nice launch or rev at a traffic light.

dude, are you talking about buying a nitrous system so you can "look cool" by purging it and not use it for anything other than that?

i just want to make sure i'm understanding you on this one...

yes, and i can understand your shock but my legacy block isnt going to handle any direct injection so i figure 500 bucks isnt really that much to spend (did it before with my civic till i killed it after installing a zex fogger) for a nice effect. besides installing it will take a few hours. im leaning toward it.

Don't waste your money, honestly, having that on a civic is bad enough, and just saying that you had it on a civic is all the more reason not to put it on a subaru. But then again to each their own. There are a lot of things 500 bucks and a couple hours can go towards that will make your car either look better or perform better, but having a nitrous purge on a near stock legacy just DOES NOT fit. If you honestly want to be laughed at and waste the money, thats up to you, I'd go and put that towards making my engine faster or swapping my engine for more power to where it could handle some nitrous so you'll blow civics away...instead of spraying them with nitrous before they pull away from you. Remember, Legacy's are civic killers, having a purge gets you no creds in the Subaru world. Thats just my .02

young grasshoppah,

you must learn,

if its not a wrx or RS thats uber modded (or swapped, see xcentrk's red gt sedan... creamage of the jeanage there bro)... its not gonna be straight line fast. what you have is handling, learn to love it. straight lines are boring, just like hot women, the fun is in the curves  and yes, you will be criticized for things that are useless to some degree, but like has been said, To Each Thier Own and most of us here respect that.

500 beans will get you springs and shocks, maybe even a rear sway and with that, you'll be so happy compared to a psst coming from a car that can handle what, 6lbs of boost without blowing up? (assuming you have an EJ25)

form follows function,

welcome to the boards.

Well put Oob. I didn't mean to be harsh, but it's true. Learn your cars strong points and take advantage of them. Check out some of the vendor pages in our vendor links section to give yourself an idea of all the different things you could do for 500 bucks that will make your ride even stronger. No matter what do what you want to do, just realize you have better options out there.

Amen brother! Love curves

Not to be a jerk, you could also go on eBay and get the "turbo" whistle that you put in your muffler. Should sound sick!

Serious though...Looks without function...why? If you ran nitrous then yea go for it. Like the rest of the dog pound said. $500 could be put into better use. You could enjoy your car a lot better by sinking $500 in another area. Use $500 towards an engine swap or NA rebuild. Handling, brakes, restore the body (if need be). Think about it, you have a Subaru now, You aren't in ricer world anymore. What can be pulled of on your Honda wont get you far in a Subaru. I have a Honda CRX, and there are many things I would do to it but wont DARE do to my Subaru. Like they said, to each his own. If you want to waste $500 go for it. Anyway good luck on your decision, and welcome to the site bro.

O my god are curves fun. Being able to hit a highway entrance ramp at 50 to 60 mph and accelerate through it is an exhilerating thing. The look on your wife or girlfriend or who ever is riding with you priceless. Spend the money on the suspension. Speed without control is no fun.

as everyone else has said, spend your money on something else like handling upgrades or real engine performance upgrades.
and if you think 500 isn't that much to spend on something that will just hiss, i want some of the other money you have laying around

as long as it isn't both of them at the same time...because that's one of those priceless looks that is probably best avoided...

Amen to all the good words in this sermon. I think survey here says "thumbs down", but again it's up to you.

In this goofy state we have round-a-bouts...Basically where 4 or more roads meet. I like to get on the gas in the turn and get the rearend to slide out and just whip it around the damn thing sideways.

What a blast....from a wagon.

What tires are you running to do that? To date I haven't been able to break out the back end get a little slidage without 2 inches of snow on the ground. My car just sticks, which makes it great for higher-speed cornering, but definately not any of the kicks blowing it sideways like in my buddy's 240SX with the RB20 converstion...all he has to do is kick the clutch and he breaks loose, its crazy.

Only 60? I guess being young with no concept of death  I take it too fast then, huh? Hehe, you're absolutely right, it is priceless to see the look of my friend who owns his "wonderful" Grand Am :violent1: with 3000 dollar rims/tires after I drop him around the corners.

I remember the days of my old Grand Am, a classic rental car.... I agree 500 bucks would go along way to get new struts/springs and working towards stiffer sways and endlinks. I get to enjoy the mountain twisties everytime i leave the driveway!
