I have a 01 legacy Gt limited. I was wondering to remove the rotors do you have to take off the axel nut?

Sometimes the rotor will get rusted on the hub and take a little persuasion to get off. Just be careful not to damage the lug studs, or hit the rotor too hard as you can leave divets in it.

rubber malet will do the trick.

nah 8mm bolt to the 2 bolt holes on the rotor pops the rotor right off the hub, thanks guys.

Ok, i'm doing my rear rotors right as I type this. Hit it multiple times with a rubber mallet, and I still can't get the rotor off. I can pull it out a few mm with my hands, but it seems to "snap" back in place. Is there something i'm missing? I've never had a problem with replacing rotors ever.

ebrake shoes must be sticking (from rust rings). theres a little rubber plug in the backing plate below the hub you can get a screwdriver in to loosen the adjuster
