1981 Toyota Celica ST RWD 5 speed
I bought this car when I was 18 for $150 non running for my first car.
this car was in horrible shape when I got it. exhaust manifold was hanging by one stud. no bolts, gasket was non existent
valve cover was loose and oil was all over it.
plugs where bad, dead battery, driver seat didn't support you, carpet was nasty, no back window, no cd player or speakers.
the lady I bought it from let her daughters bf drive it to deliver pizza before they parked it. it was too loud and the bf was told by his boss that he couldn't deliver with that car cause costumer complaints.
my plans were to get it running and DD it- that was short lived and became a gravel drifter.
engine maintenance:
new valve cover gasket
new exhaust manifold gasket, studs and bolts
new battery
new plugs, and wires
new fuel pump
new carburetor to manifold gasket
new alternator, and belt
new oil, and filter
interior:
removed carpet, and door panels
cleaned rear seats
AE86 center console and shift boot
AE86 front seats
Exterior:
washed
sanded
primer gray
polished up the headlights
replaced broken tail light- hard as hell to find on of those.
before I put any money into the car after buying it I had to make sure it would start, and it did. holly shit was it fucking loud just when idling I didn't even rev it. I shut it off quickly after start up.
So after doing maintenance I did get it running. it ran quiet and pretty smooth for the most part.
it had a little hesitation if I stomped the throttle to the floor.
I was friends with the prior owners kids, so I told them how quite it was after I got it running. they had major doubt.
I drove over to their house, parked by the side walk, and left it idling. they came out and were about 20ft away and told me to go start it.
I lol'd and told them to get closer and said it's already running. and they looked like  and  all in one. it was priceless
here are the only pics I have of the car.
