if i hit my rear defrost switch it will turn off in a certain amount of time, or if I turn the car off (when I turn the car back on the rear defrost wont be on)
I would guess the switch is the same, and the relay is different, because mine does not auto-off, and it stays on if I didn't shut it off when I shut the car off.

also correction:
I'm not doing engine mounts (my mistake, consequence for speed reading), however I'm doing tranny, pitch stop, and I switched something around and I will be doing differential protector as well.
this thing will be a rugged looking beast soon
as for the wires...BB, I think you exaggerate a little...I don't remember there being that many wires...and this is a custom setup, I only need 3 wires, so I just have to figure out which is which. (ground, input & output hot).
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2006/02/ClusterBottomInsideScrews-1.jpg
I only see 4 wires to the rear defrost switch (yellow, the cruise control is the nutso one).
I plan to take the high beam relay wire, send it to the high beam relay, and also send it to the switch, that way, I can turn the Hellas off while retaining high beams, but they'll be on as default with the high beams if the switch is on :)

I also got a subaru hat (which I'm wearing now) and a subaru key.
Apparently the 2.5RS intake hole cover (you know, if you do a snorkus delete) doesn't fit the Legacy :? But it was a 2 dollar item, so I'm not going to bitch to SGP (Subaru Genuine Parts, where I got this stuff from :))

Wiscon_Mark
03-12-2006, 09:52 PM
holy crap! That's exactly what I have!
But it doesn't fit....wth...
no, it has nothing to do with it being an outback, mine isn't even a true outback, being a 95, it's really an L wagon.
I wonder if this thing wouldn't fit a 96 either...*scratches chin*
AussieDan

Hmm...I did notice that the plug is only specified for the 2.5-powered Impreza...maybe the fender holes are different for the 2.2?
Wiscon_Mark
03-12-2006, 10:09 PM
no, I don't think that's it.
However, the EJ22 was the only engine present in 1995 or 1996 cars (excepting the outback in 96 and the very few GTs that were in 96).
I can't see them having different engine bays for the same car...nor can I understand why they would have changed it in 97 (if what I am guessing is correct).

Yes, after some digging in the parts catalogs I found that the sheetmetal in that area was changed for 96:

I just bought my plug today. $2.41 at a local stealership. It was at the Denver warehouse, so I won't get it till tomorrow. I'll let you know if it fits.
Have you figured out how you're going to mount your driving lights? There's quite a few ideas in the "ultimate aux. lighting" thread on nasioc. Quite a few light bars and home made light bars. I'm thinking of a way to bolt up some fogs on mine, unfortunately I just looked into local laws, and the maximum aux. lights allowed is two. I was hoping to bolt up four, so I'll have to risk it until I get in trouble.

How bad is the tranny mount install?
Piece of cake with some decent airtools.
Drop the cat section off the exhaust, remove the tranny support and whizzbangbang off the nuts on the tranny mount.
Install is the reverse.
Shouldn't take more than an hour if you've never done it, and that includes setup/tear down time.

I'm very happy with them too.
Got the grille installed as well. It looks good, but needs colormatch.
I really want my bumper! But the seller disappeared on me.
Oh, and I got the ebay intake. Turns out the idle air bypass nipple on the intake isn't big enough and makes the car stall
I think I'll have exhaust shop make a new nipple (laugh it up you pervs) that's bigger and then it should be golden. I did attatch the cone filter that came with it for kicks and it helps top end, but the low end suffers a bit.

The Altezza is a Toyota model that the only sell in JDM (Japanese domestic market.) That's what the Lexus ES300 is over here.

^Lexus IS300 aka Toyota Altezza.
I've been reading this thread for a while, how exactly did this come up Prof. Shane?

He was only kidding about "JDM" parts.
Anyways, these should've come standard in the US because I've seen other cars with white lenses that blink yellow that are USDM, and it's not like they had to release these tails anywhere else.
Retarted.

But then you couldn't buy some cool JDM tails. You'd be looking for amber turn signal brake light assemblies. DUH.
Ebay intake? So the new generation has IAB nipple? Strange that its not big enough considering how small mine is. What grill did you get? I imagine a JDM one, but if you're getting an outback bumper.... I guess you're ok with the gap?
BTW, the fogs are in on my car. But I haven't driven at night, so I have no clue how much they helped

No gap, this grille is tall enough. This isn't the classic JDM grille with the L7 logo on it.
It looks like this:

The reason it sort of (only sort of, it's a little too tall) fits my bumper is because it doesn't touch the bottom until father out on the bumper and the bumper is sloped, unlike the OB bumper.

Cool, I'd like to see how they look. When did they arrive? USPS told me 3 days.
