Satellite Radio question

I just bought a 2009 Legacy. It is satellite ready and I have a Sirius receiver that I took out of my old car. After calling a Stereo installer, I was told that I need the actual Subaru satellite receiver and mine won't work. Does anyone know if this is true or not?

If it's sat ready, then it should already have the hardware necessary - all you would need to do is activate your Sirius/XM subscription - unless the model was manufactured without the required satellite radio module.
