Whoa, that's a VERY clean car! Any interior pics/plans?
Thanks... And with your help next month, the exterior mods will begin
I didn't take any interior pics, I'll make sure to get some after i clean the inside within the next week or two...
I have some plans for the interior as well as the mechanical aspects of the car such as intake, exhaust, headers, and some other goodies... I have thought about some wrx or sti seats but that depends on how everything turns out and the budget.
I may post my entire wish list of mods eventually, but I don't want to get ahead of myself and the exterior is the first set of mods I want to accomplish.

What exactly do you mean by clip down? I have the Yakima Big Powderhound ski rack and it works great, comes with locks (even though I bought enough so I have to use only one key) and will lock onto the rack when you lock the ski rack itself. It holds 4 boards or 6 sets of skis... Very easy to install.
I would recommend having someone help you install the rack as it makes it very quick when installing the crossbars and you won't hit your car with the Q tower that is opposite of you... It also makes it nice if you are very particular like me and want everything to be lined up perfectly.

There you go, I like to take off the reflector like jew shows but tint or smoke it then reglue it inplace to give it a more OEM feel, without the reflector kind of makes it look like its missing something(which it is).
For the eyelids I would go from the center hood/grill line right over to the hood/fender line for a really mean aggressive look(paint matched of course but your running a bug deflector so maybe gloss black to flow and blend in with it).
amgarrety
04-16-2012, 10:42 PM
I don't know if I'd color match the eyelids. I would probably suggest gloss black because it is the early version of the BE, which already comes with some black trim on the car (mirrors, door trim, and door handles, which are color matched on '03 and '04 models).
And especially if you're blacking out your corners.

eyelids make our cars have a more pissed off/angry look with them. I love mine that i made, even if they are sparkly

STIdarkside
04-17-2012, 09:01 PM
jewbaru: The lip is molded to the bumper, it's essentially one piece now.
Matty2Hotty: I'm planning on getting some GT/Outback Headlights in the future and the only mod I would do to them would be remove the orange reflector. Not a fan of eyelids and the bug guard is staying on so eyelids would look terrible in my opinion with it.
I still need to install/wire up my color matched Hella Supertones, but other than that I don't have much more planned for it.
Thanks for all the compliments! I'll try and get a couple more pics up...

So how did you attach your lip? I see you having sitting up higher on the bumper, kind of like how AWDSOME did his lip. I really like it like that, because it looks like part of the bumper instead of an additional piece.
And where did you get it? It's the Mugen lip, correct? Im looking at getting that exact lip but I don't want to get some rolled up piece of crap from some low ball eBay seller. Yours looks like it was shipped with care.

I had a body shop do all the work... They test fitted the lip, shaped it, glued/molded it onto the bumper then sanded everything and made it so all the curves in the bumper flow into the lip... It was a ton of work and not something I could have done. My lip sits similar to AWDsome, but I can remove the fogs without the lip interferring, which in his case his lip sits over the bottom of the fogs.
Please see my mods list for exact part I bought on Ebay, I bought it from BaysonR.
I have thought about doing exhaust, Borla UEL Headers (Ceramic Coated) and a HKS/Apexi N/A Muffler with the correct cat back sized piping, but I'm not sure how it will sound and I don't want any codes...

UEL headers should bring out a nice boxer rumble and Apex'i shouldnt let you down on quality....Would you cut the bumper and fit the muffler or have it below?? That is the only featrue that I personally think detracts from the 3rds is the lack of a rear bumper cut out for the exhaust
STIdarkside
05-17-2012, 02:27 AM
JB - I probably won't lower it because I like to snowboard and I would bottom out all over Seattle...
Chrish8r - I would seriously consider cutting the bumper to fit the exhaust correctly... that's one reason I'm hesitant about exhaust cuz it looks funny on usdm bumpers and I don't want to throw any codes...

I am having this dilemma right now. I'm not throwing any codes, I just hate how my exhaust looks. It needs that cut-out. Im going back and forth on whether I should cut it or order one from Japan. I don't necessarily know if I want to go through the trouble of importing a bumper and dealing with the difference in USDM vs JDM lines, but I don't want to screw up cutting my bumper. I have a lot of confidence that I won't screw it up, but I'm still hesitant. I'll need some photoshop assurance at some point before I take that route for sure. My biggest fear is it looking like I cut it at home. I want it to look professional, like it's part of the car.
That's why I love your lip by the way. It looks like it was always part of the car. I can't believe how well done it is.
Yamazaki
05-17-2012, 05:58 PM
Why would you get a CEL from putting on an exhaust? You aren't changing anything so drastic that the ECU will lose its mind.
I put a WRX exhaust on my brother's '00 LGT and it was perfectly fine.
That lip looks fantastic by the way. As if it came from the factory... :smt023

The only way I would do a cat-back exhaust is if I did borla headers as well and I heard they tend to throw codes at times... I would get them ceramic coated but I'm not sure that will prevent codes 100%...
Thanks for the compliments on the molded lip... It's not 100% perfect but I'm satisfied with it.

How do those lights work for you? I have two different kinds of off brand silvers in all of my markers. The rears are a great silver, but the amber light is dim. In the front, you can see the amber through the silver coating, but the light output is great. It's a give and take.
