Go to subarugenuineparts.com, you can get a baja turbo hood brand new for a very reasonable price... You will need to paint it though but it will be brand new... This is where I'm going to buy my baja turbo hood, granted I live in driving distance from them.

Good luck with fixing the rust and replacing the engine...

Not a fan of aftermarket body kits, but if you do plan on getting one I would suggest looking on japanparts.com. Yes, the body kits cost more and you have to have them shipped to the US, but they are much cleaner in looks and probably much better quality. They have a pretty good selection, just make sure the body kit is not for the Model D Legacy as it won't fit our cars.

I want your front bumper and fogs haha, I plan on buying this exact setup for my car in the near future from subarugenuineparts.com as well.

Anyways good luck and look forward to seeing what you end up doing...

Excuse my ignorance but I'm assuming you mean parts number? If so...
Q-Towers: 8000124
48" Crossbar: 8000408
http://www.yakima.com/shop/racksystems/naked-roof
^You can find everything you're looking for there : )

The roof rack is great, it really is. It locks onto the car (with a physical lock) and so do the kayak cradles. Really convenient, and they're quick and easy to put on and take off!

TGX:
Just a joke man hahahahaha

STiDarkside:
Thanks for the hood link, I'll check that out in a little bit! The engine will be done by next Friday as well. Rust should be done shortly after that. As far as the body kit goes, that's one of the last things I'd even do to the car so I'm not too concerned with it now.

Thanks everyone!

No problem, be sure to check out japanparts.com as well, it's a very good and resourceful site. Love the roof rack as well, Subaru's always look amazing with them, I'm gonna be buying a Yakima roof rack before winter as well...

I was bored today, and since I can't do anything with my car until the engine and all the other goodies get here Monday, I decided to strip off the white background on the Yakima rack (it was peeling, look at the OP image and you can see) and stickered that sucker up!

Quick question, when compiling the parts for a Yakima roof rack using fit to my car, it says that one should use a 44" fairing on our cars... I see yours is the 50" fairing and from your pictures it looks like to fits and covers the front of the rack perfectly. Do you have a picture of it from the front of the car by chance? Thanks

I'll measure it tomorrow and make sure it's the 50", just so you can be sure.

Your car is so practical! If I were you I'd never do anything too crazy with it. It looks great how it is, and I absolutely love the color and that front bumper. Can't wait to see what you do to it tho.

Haha I agree that it's practical, it does everything I need it to do, and it's a champ in the snow during the winters here in PA. I've decided against a bigger spoiler, I might do something along the lines of a BMW style lip on the trunk. Everyone loves my bumper too haha. I need help figuring out how to put mesh in the two openings on the bottom.

Cool thanks, I was thinking at work that if it was a 50" fairing it would have been bigger than the crossbars haha. Did you have any issues with the Q clips attaching to the car and the window hitting them? Do you happen to have a close up picture of the rack attached to the car where the clip is? Even a iphone pic would be helpful thanks

Glad to see you got your engine...

Sorry for the late response, it's been a busy day...

The Q-Clips don't actually attach onto where the window connect with the car itself, it goes onto the weather stripping part of the frame (as you'll see in the pictures). I've had that rack on there for 4 years now and haven't had any problems with stability issues or anything coming apart where the two pieces connect.

Sorry for the big pics but I'm sure you'll appreciate the close up

I got it discounted on ebay for $95. And it was just the chrome, no other options. You did get to pick the color of the filter though. You can get black piping if you order direct from Weapon-R though. I plan on using their air box setup as a model for a home made one I'm working on.

Hahaha everyone's hating!

I dunno if I like it yet, I'm going to put it on and see what it sounds like, drive it around for a little. If it's ridiculous I'm going to go back to stock, I won't be out that much money. AllNatural reccomended the brand to me, he has the 5" out on his, this is a 4" out. He also has uneven headers, but I'm getting those hopefully in the next month so we'll see. I can even throw one of these (http://www.raceinspired.com/p-6886-hks-inner-muffler-silencer-115mm-universal.aspx) on and see what it sounds like....

Yeah I believe that working on cars and adding parts is all speculation until it's actually accomplished and you can observe the final product.

Just ordered my UEL's.

We'll see what happens with this on November 2nd

Haha sorry dude its not like I was jacked or anything. As far as the looks go, don't worry about that you're hardly going to see it. As far as it sounds...we'll see.

If I hate it I'm going the Vibrant route I believe.

I appreciate the looks though

rougeben83

I already know how its going to look like since i've gone through 4 different exhaust systems on the same car (same year and trim even). Given the shallow partial cutout in the bumper and stock muffler location, exhaust tips will always hang a little low on these cars...your 5" round canister will be even more pronounced. Also, you can't really tuck that particular tip very close to the bumper in the first place as it's very short and unshielded, therefore potentially melting the plastic - or at the very least leave a nice black-soot bumperstain around your exhaust .

Meh it's your car, just don't get mad when you get lumped into the slammed-hondur driving crowd because of it.

Or you can go with what i did and get a universal $100 3" Borla Muffler on eBay with million mile warranty and have a shop weld her on for a Stealth look and Amazing sound!

Don't let these guys mess with you. I have a"fartcan" and my exhaust is deeper and have more rumble than most here. You just have to make sure you build the exhaust right.

love the legacy!!!! I was going to get a Weapon-R intake for my 95 LS, but it was cheaper to get a Cosmo CAI!! I might get the exact same roof rack and I'll try to make an engine cover. If you finish it, put up some pictures!!! Thanks

'Buru in the Burgh

Thanks man! Yeah, the engine cover is at a standstill right now because I'm waiting on my dad (he's a contractor) to get me a good deal on aluminum sheet metal so I can do the cover and skid plate.

In other news:

Figured that before I painted the inside of my headlights and tinted the lens, I would sand them down and polish. I used this 3m Headlight Restoration Kit (http://www.amazon.com/3M-Headlight-Lens-Restoration-System/dp/B001AIZ5HY). Worked pretty well, used a cordless drill. I didn't spend too much time on them, I was just getting the cloudiness out.

iphone pics by the way.,,

Before - Cloudy, little bit of scratching and what not
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2010/11/5137858636_60995e1ec1_z-1.jpg

During - this was taken after I did the 500 grit (didn't take pics of the 800 or the 1200)
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2010/11/5137254925_f5e9946528_z-1.jpg

After - (finished right before the rain came but took a pic after) Cloudiness is gone as well as most of the smaller scratches
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2010/11/5137863202_cfed36b6e1_z-1.jpg

I'm sure if I would have taken more time and put more effort into perfect sanding, they would be flawless. But hey, not bad for 20 minutes worth of work I suppose!

Ah, I remember when my exhaust manifold was so new and shiny... seems like so long ago, but it was about 2 years ago. You might want to get some header heat wrap for it. Those things get freakin hot and it hurts to accidentally touch them.

11-02-2010, 01:40 AM
Aside from not getting burned when touching them, is there anything else that the wrap is good for? I wasn't intending on putting any on.

The wrap keeps the heat in.. it helps with your oil filter temp since the runner sits next to the filter.. there are slight performance gains but not worth the time, wrap, and stainless zip ties...

My exhaust manifold had a really annoying whooshing sound, like you could hear the air running through them. I could really hear it with the windows down and driving by a wall. The wrap on mine muted the sound, so now I hear my muffler and intake better  Some of them have it, some don't. Some like the sound, some don't. Just keep it in mind, if theres a sound you don't like, there's a way to fix it!

I think Matty installed the v-limited on his slammed outback

I know about the Zerosport one, and it's wayyy to much $ for me to spend on a lip that I'll probably tear off kayaking : P

I was talking about this one:

your car looks great. you can see the hard work youve put into it. where did you get those black/red seatbelt pads?

Thank you so much man! I got the seatbelt pads off of eBay, not sure if the American site works for you but I just searched "subaru seatbelt pads" and got this:
http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid ... Categories (http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=subaru+seatbelt+pads&_sacat=See-All-Categories)

Then I just found the red ones and made sure the order came with enough to do every seatbelt! I think it looks good, and it's a hella lot comfier than having the belt dig into your shoulder. I think you should get the same ones, it would work well with the black and red theme you have going.

Awesome car. Very sleek looking!
I also have a question about the Yakima roof rack, what is the diameter of the crossbars? I haven't had any luck finding the specs online.

How was the motor tuned? What did STi do to it?

Figures. Haha. Do you know what was special about the "STi tuned" motor he bought and installed?

He never did post specs.. so its up in the air.. tuned by STi motors are available in Euro/Japan.. but running turbo compression with out the turbo is just non-sense. But at least his BE looked bad ass.

Oh ok. So he was probably running a turbo motor with no turbo? Mine will look better. Haha.

Chuck was correct. And it was a bunch of nonsense haha. It was the younger me looking for some sort of validation that wasn't there haha. My engine has since been swapped back to the standard EJ25 that belongs in it. Also purchased a BMW z4 last year. I still have the Legacy and will drive it until the wheels fall off. Getting an XV in the fall too.

Haven't been on here in forever. My rear quarters are rusting to hell and I got hit by a deer three months ago and have a decent dent on my front fender but that'll pop out, I've just been too lazy to do it. Here's some recent pics:

Good update ..... z4 ??? Nevermind. XV????

haha my dad wanted to get rid of his z4 and I wanted to keep it in the family....so we worked a deal out.

And yep, gonna get an all black XV and just black everything out + borla headers and some kind of exhaust for a little rumble, front brush guard/light mounts, cargo rack for the roof, some other goodies... I'm in need of a newer car with more cargo area and I want something my girlfriend can drive in the winter so the XV was logical for me.
