Time for some posting of Legacys that are LOW. I'm not talking about the standard 25-35mm drop...

Post it up!

I need to lower my coilovers all the way down one of these days and take a pic. There is so much adjustment in them, it would be freaking slammed lol.

Put the wheels back on the other night and haven't taken a picture, but I also raised it a little less than 1/4" when we were doing the alignment/wheel fitting.

These pics below are from H2Oi. 90% of the cars down there were lower than me. :( Big decal was supposed to be just for H2Oi. Haven't gotten around to taking it off yet. She looks lower driving around as opposed to standing still. But low enough to scrape away a CM or two on my front mudguards :). Looking for much wider rims next summer. Do you guys reckon 16x9.5 would fit? Definitely going for at least 16x8 though.

You can get them from Japanparts.com too;

Some people do have disposable income to do not so practical Mods on a second car they own. A lot of the cars here aren't practical, its a hobby and hobbies cost money and alot of the time there's no return in it, it just keeps you busy. I would do something extreme like that if I had the money and a scond car. Would I do it to a daily drive, absolutely not. Most of the Mods we do aren't practical for daily driving, but we do it because its fun.

Not true. Your definition of practical might be different than mine. If I can drive to work and back, it's 100% as practical as it would be otherwise. My car is that height for the summer. I've had no problems at all. Daily driven with atleast 100kms a day. Also drove a 2300km road trip from Toronto to Maryland, with one passenger (big guy), full cooler in the back seat, 3 full luggage peaces, and 2 150+pc tool sets in the back. Practical enough for me. Can I go offroad like an Outback? No, and don't plan on it. Though, I have driven dirt roads. As long as you slow down for speedbumps and lot entrances, there are no issues. Chuck or someone else from Toronto can vouch for how shitty Kingston road east of Coxwell is. That is my daily commute. Also have many friends in the VW community, we all know how low those guys go :).

Don't get me wrong I like the look of a slamed car, but I say if you are going to slam your car at least get a set of rims that fit then. I hate it when people use huge amounts of camber or tires that are not wide enough so they can get their rims to fit. It ruins it IMO.

bobbyjimmy

So stick with 7" and 7.5" wide rims then?

I agree.

I don't raise my car in the winter or lower it in the summer, it's always the same way. I drive it on crappy roads and in the snow if I have to and it's fine. It gets driven 70 miles round trip to work and I have taken it on longer trips when I needed to take my car. I mean my "winter setup" is lower than most people's "summer setups". It works fine and there are things you have to modify to make it work but nothing serious and it's along the same idea as doing any modifications to a car that aren't totally conservative.

Specs and camber settings?

BC racing coils with front and rear camber plates. Ingalls camber bolts all around too. The rears have to be around 4 degrees. Putting in steering rack bushings this weekend, so an alignment will be done soon. Not sure if I'm dialing the camber back or if I'm gonna get 5mm spacers to fill out the rears. Wheels are 16x8 with 29 offset on 205/40s. Should have went 195/45 :(.

Are 5mm spacers safe? The nuts don't look long enough to grab with spacers.

4 degrees?! Now i'm fearing my 18x8 +20 alignment...

195s ftw :)

5mm spacers were the agreed limit I think. Personally I wouldn't go any more than 3mm.

4 is just a guess. 3ish from the plates and another 1 from the bolts. I can go back to 0 and have no clearance issues. I'm not sure if thats possible on 18s though. But on 195s and 3-4 degrees I think you'll be ok. Obviously depends on how big the drop is. With the 20 offset you'll have more trouble with the fronts. FYI for next year it looks like 16x8 with a 20ish offset up front and 16x9 with a 30ish offset out rear :). Might go 16x9 up front if I can find some lips.

The end of the week should tell. Just ordered another set of camber bolts and will most likely end up having the front at -2 and the rears at -1.5. Just calculated that it would poke ~10mm more than your current setup so I should be right without running too much camber...

Aren't you worried about going staggered?

chromehorn
05-04-2011, 11:02 AM
What size tires are you going to run?

As for the staggered setup. I'll just run the same sized tires. Rolling diameter will be the same. If I can find 1 inch lips. I'll most likely make all four 16x9. They're three peice rims.

I'd suggest the 205 just to get that little bit more clearance.

Ya the steelies that I have for this year were pretty cheap $400 to get them widened. The wheels I'm using next year are BBS RSs :).

Found a local guy(Toronto) that modifies wheels at his shop. Different lug size? Different bolt pattern and/or offset, you mean? If so, you're better off just getting rims. Or starting off with the right wheel you want widened. Or you can get a custom steelie from Diamond Racing. Widening stock steelies only make sense, if you did what I did. Any more changes and it gets expensive.

You need 9" or bigger to get them concave.

chromehorn

But DCM, keep in mind that offsets change with widths. A 30 offset on a 9 is only 2mm further out than bobbyjimmy's rims.

Adapters are fine. Not sure why people are overly concerned about them. Friend of mine had 40 and 50mm adapters on his e30. Drifting, clutch drops, all around hooning with no problems. As long as they're custom made with exact centrebores, you shouldn't have a problem. You can get them as thin as 15mm. A 15 offset on a 9 might be a bit much. I'd like to see it done though.

I still don't quite understand why people like this. It basically makes the car 100% less practical for driving on anything except laser-level, dry pavement.

And that is the reason why you are not part of the Slammed Society :-D

I don't care how dumb/impracticable lowered cars are..

Slammed chassis rollin' is car sex period!

More BL love.

2 recent ones from H20i.

Lost a centrecap on the drive back. Then curbed a front rim a few days ago. :(

Thanks guys.

@chiqueto

They're BC Racing coils. Pretty much all the way down in the front. Wish I had gotten shorter shocks.
