I need to change the rear diff fluid and I need to know what weight/type basically anything I would need to know on how and what to use. Thanks guys.

75w90. i use amsoil severe gear. i think is .8 quarts. i wrote a diy on it.

should try to make sure its the same in the front as well.


75-90 or heavier if excessively worn. i use lucas gear oil.

Well i can tell you and I am ashamed of this but I have had the car since 48k and i am at 100k now and I have never changed this simple to do oil. I dont know why, I cant explain it I just never did. The Tranny, and the front and even the coolant have been changed.

i know in my 3rd gen manual that is what it says to use in the tranny and rear diff.

Hey man i work at valvoline and people do worse. i just changed all the fluids in my wagon(tranny both diffs and oil every 1000 miles lol) what you do is drain the diff and reinstall the drain plug then fill from the fill hole and when it starts coming out then stops that means its full. keep pumping some extra in so it pushs all that old crap out.
