I've got a problem with my 1996 legacy 250t, when i'm driving and turn the car to the left there is a very loud humming/whine from the front left of the car (this noise does not occur when turning to left) i'm unsure if this is the first sign of the wheel bearing going or a differential issue, i've pulled the front left hub off the car to check the wheel bearing but there seems to be no play what so ever (thought stub axle being tight may be masking the bearing play) have thought it might be a lower suspension arm bushing? Help please

Rotate your tires to see if the noise changes or goes away.

Typically if the noise gets worse on the side opposite the direction you are turning, i.e. gets louder on the LH side when you turn right, its a good chance the wheel bearing is bad. This happens because the outside tire in a turn gets loaded more (so the right tire gets loaded on a LH turn).
