i would like to put some uel headers on my n/a subaru lgt. it would have to be single port the only problem is they are so few and rare to locate much less buy. so i was thinking i know how to weld and the ability to create my own headers all i need is materials. so my question to you is what is the best material to use, where can i buy some of it, how much does it cost?

Go with stainless for the headers. You will need a good tig or mig welder for that though. Not sure where you can get the flanges from. If you give a machine shop your y pipe they can fab up some.

What year LGT uses single port heads?
none, unless someone put a set of ej22 heads on there
btw ej22 heads from~96-01 are the only single port ej heads that i know of that apply to any of the legacy models

That's what I thought, just making sure I wasn't missing something.

well now i'm a little confused today i was talking to a guy who has a lot of experience with muscle cars but in general he knows his cars and such. he apparently things by running UEL headers on my car would cause uneven back pressure causing certain cillenders to run hotter than others and cause damage. is this a true statement and should i avoid UEL headers?

no damage will result with a uel setup on our motor, un-even backpressure maybe but nothing too off the charts otherwise the thousands of UEL equipped subies would've bit the dust by now

A UEL header will cause exhaust reversion because the exhaust pulses will hit each other as they exit. Thats what gives it that uneven "boxer rumble." A UEL header is less effective than an EL header. The STI guys have seen dyno proven gains up to 30hp from swapping to an EL header from the stock UEL setup and no other mods.
Most cars come from the factory with a UEL style setup, even outside of the Subaru world. No damage will result, but it is far from an ideal setup.
