decided to mod my boring 95 L legacy cluster..

got bored and decided to spice up my cluster a little bit. i absolutely hated the plain green lighting and the boring needles.

Pretty decent 20 dollar mod. A lot of meticulous work but it looks much better than the gay green 90's econo car gauge lighting! One led was burnt thou.. Oh wells minor snag.

i like how the red stand out compared to the oem gt needles. I just wish there was a way to light them up like the BE cluster. Oh without UV paint of course.

actually, its somewhat lit up at night since the paint i used are the same paint i used for my other cars tail lights. its transparent red. not too bad. i hated how plain the cluster was coming from my swapped gc8 with gd dash. i had to do it. lol

Nicely done. I would recommend you don't ever lay bare circuit boards on carpet, there's a chance you could transmit a static shock to them when picked up and ruin 'em.

There is already a DIY for doing this. The only difference between this thread and the DIY is that "AWD_PWNZ" used transparent paint for his needles.

I can guarantee you that tape is ineffective - it isn't a non-conductor. Plus, if you touched the carpet with any part of your body or clothes, now you're a generator. The fact that you gauges still work means you didn't create enough static to destroy it, yet.

If you ever get really bored, get an STi Version 3 cluster, they fit right in. Only thing is you gotta convert to the oldschool speedo cable, and ditch the electronic.

You might want to find one with the 240k speedo though, as standard only goes to 180k... (111mph)

Nope, very different in fact. You lose the door open functionality of the legacy. The legacy says what door is open, the impreza just shows that a door is open. Also, i now get lights for intercooler waterspray, and if you get one with it, a DCCD display. Both are mods i intend to do in future. Other than that though, can't really say, the above was just a test fit, waiting on parts before i dive into the wiring. I know others have done it, hence my confidence, that's all at this stage. (at least i'm honest)

OP - Did you replace the lights behind the gauges? I tried swapping out the lights in my accord with LEDs and I ended up with hot spots where the bulb was out because of the immensely higher light output; and then like all $2 LEDs they started to flicker and burn out about 3 months later. :(
