painting calipers?

I was thinking about cleaning up and painting mine however locally they only have the color red kit by dupli-color anyways red gets hated on so much so I was thinking about silver? Has anyone used this stuff before?

If you clean everything pretty good it holds up decent from what I've seen, I used 500F white engine enamel on my front calipers looks decient but brake dust build up quick

Just use a high temp paint and you will be fine.

Anyone know if I can buy the silver dupli-color paint local without having to buy it off ebay because Auto zone and advance auto all they have is the red paint kit.

autozone can order it for you. just get the high temp engine paint they have and use that. my calipers are just engine high temp paint piss can.

yours was in a can? it seems like engine enamel cost more then the paint kit? And the caliper cleaner is nothing but brake cleaner, no?

dont get caliper cleaner. wash the calipers with soap and water than use thinner. yes i used piss can. also the engine high temp paint will last longer.

do it right. didnt you want to bleed your brakes? this will help you get new fluid in your car. i put 7 coats of paint and 5 of clear.

I don't want to remove it yet because the guy just mailed off the brake fluid cap yesterday So i'm guessing that's going to take 3-4 days

You can mask it off. Its all in the prep. Wire brush, brake cleaner, wait for the whole thing to completely dry, masking tape, then spray. I've used both types, the paint on 2 part and the spray. The spray tends to chip a little easier but it dries a little smoother. The paint-on takes a little more time to prep and apply, and you have to be quick with application because it dries in 10 or so minutes but its a tough finish that lasts a while.

SS brake lines :D I went ahead and just ordered the black paint kit since I have time to wait.. anyone know what size the brake bleeder screw size is? A few of them were uncapped because the cover dry rotted and just fell away and you can see some crud in some of them.

just got buy a set of speed bleeders. 8mm and 10mm are the most likely ones. i know my fronts are 8mm and the rears are 10mm. mine are also 4/2pots.

I painted mine with High Temp. paint from Advance Auto. And top it off with High Temp clear coat. Still shiny and not peeling. I did not take my caliper off, instead, I masked everything up.

I used the G2 caliper paint probably 4 years ago. It holds up very well. I think the two part paints are much more durable, I believe it is more of an epoxy finish than the normal solvent evaporating style paint. Unfortunately one of the calipers then developed a siezed piston that I could not get to budge so I had to replace it and didn't repaint the new one.

My paint should be arriving today if the postal worker is not lazy.. I picked up a foam brush yesterday since I heard bad stuff about that brush that comes with the kit.. I take it I just need only one brush anyways right?

I just use automotive paint on My brembos I have done. Works great and you can get cool colors too.

Did you blast em or something before hand? Those are sick looking. How well they hold up? And by auto paint.. what you usin?

You can blast them or use a stripper on them and skuff them down. Big thing just not to let brake fluid get on them. Plug the hole and your good to go. If the powder coating (if you have brembos) is still in good shape then you don't have to sand the calipers to bear metal. I have used PPG, Lesenol, Omni it all works. My calipers have been holding up fine after almost a year and 6 Auto Xs now. Even the white ones we did for my Boss's EVO haven't yellowed after almost 8 months and 2 Auto Xs.

ha I bet if I never came to the post office they would of never delivered it today after my mail already came.. still I think the way the post office is ran is really crappy.

Having said that I can't do them tomorrow since I will be in NYC so maybe Monday as it looks like it wont rain.
