EJ20/25T swap into 99 outback

I had an overheating issue last year and my attempts to fix have failed. So I am thinking of swaping a turbo engine into it.
I have read the sticky.

What ever engine I get I plan on doing a mild cam swap while its out.

Is there guide for this sort of thing? What do I need to get? I would like to keep my trans as it is a 5speed. Will my crossmember work? I know I will need a new ECU.
I do not need to pass emissions. What sort of wiring do I need to splice? What engine would need the least amount of modification? I am a mechanic but I mostly work on Honda's and GM's. So I do not know much about Subaru's.
Would a Front mount intercooler work out better?

I would like a ej25 but a ej20 would obviously be cheaper, but is one easier to swap than the other?

Any incite or links to similar builds would be great!

There is no step by step guide, however you will want to get the complete WRX harness and have that merged into the Legacy front, bulkhead and rear harness. Best thing is to get a wrecked car with the new motor so you have "everything" you need for the swap.
TMIC is sufficient for most people, unless you are tracking the car.
EJ20 is much easier as EJ25(7) is drive by wire, most have ignition interlock, etc. People commonly do a EJ205 heads/EJ257 shortblock hybrid, but you'll need aftermarket engine management to get it to work.
No need to change your trans, but you'll need the turbo engine crossmember unless you want to do custom pipes.
