Lift gate struts

So the struts/dampers/lift gate holdy thingies on my 97 BK are pretty much useless at this point, and I want to replace them, is there a specific kind of strut I need to get? Like, does it need to have a certain weight rating, etc. My local auto parts store sells struts for 15 bucks each, do I just find the one that is the same or close in size or what? I really have no understanding of what to do here. Any help is appreciated.

Its pretty basic. Take off one of the struts and find the same size, weight rating, and mount style. You should be good to go or just order an aftermarket set.
