Removing front doors... Remove fender too?

Hi everybody. I just bought a rusty 95 legacy for a winter beater and have some new doors to put on it. I figured out the back pretty easy. But for the front it looks like to take the whole hinges off I would have to take the front fenders off too. Is this right? IT looks like the pin that runs down through the hinge could possibly come out to release the door. Does it? Any input would be appreciated

It'll definitely make things easier if you do, and it won't take long.

Be careful removing the fender bolts, the heads break off very easily, hit them with some sort of chemical product before trying to back them out.

You do NOT need to remove the fenders to get the doors off. yes, it would make it easier, but is NOT necessary.


Remove the pin on the slider, it'll help you open the doors wider to expose the bolts for the hinges.


Unplug the wiring harness ( note: door panel off would make it easier to do)


Now un-bolt the hinges/ door side and the bottom first, then loosen the top. Have someone hold the door or prop something underneath the door, then remove remaining 3 bolts.


you'd do the same thing if you remove the fender too. Just an extra step of removing the fender.
