I have a 1000 watt converter that can Power a microwave or fridge lmao but I didn't have the right guage wire to run it. So I opted for the 400 watt converter. Haven't really dealt with plugging anything in yet. Although it powered up a drill last night. I'll have to plug in my lap top and check it out. I had a mod like this in my trailblazer but it was kinda hack. Atleast this looks clean :grin:

That's where I was thinking originally. That's where I had it in my trailblazer. It kinda got in the way when you had stuff plugged in with people in the back seat. The plugs would alway hit your knees on them. I figured with it up behind the armrest. It's up away from the ground and it can be hidden when you want to tuck it away. I'll try to find pictures of my old set up

I am actually thinking inside the center compartment instead of coming out of it. that way I can plug stuff in from the drivers seat and keep them in there away from view. Cell phones and ipods and the like. I could run two and put one in the center of the seat as well for the passengers in the rear.

Might interfere with me sub enclosure design though.

depending on the style inverter you want to use, you can build something a little custom. with my last car, i had an inverter like this (another 400watt however)

if you have a little confidence and feel comfatable with a sodering gun, those two power outlets are removeable. they are one inch square on all models, with two little slips on either side and they simply snap in. push the tabs in, and boom they're out. i cut two small one inch squares out in the back of my center console, snapped in the two plugs, and then extended the wires from the unit, to the plugs and closed it back up all nice and tucked it inside the bottom of the console.

this would allow you to eleminate some depth behind the plug. if you plan on putting it in the rear arm rest of any kind of plastic that isnt to ridgid, i would have a piece of sheet metal backing the hole you cut out so when you snap the plug in, it has support when plugging and unplugging your wires. that was one problem i had with this the first time i did it. the plug holes were snug on the acc. that i plugged in, so the cords would always pull the plug out of the console. a simple piece of thin metal backing the hole where the plug snaps in will give it a nice strong support for the plug to snap into the plastic didnt seem to provide a good enough grip around the clips on the sides of the outlet

now thats not my car, but you get the idea, i like the single plugs like that. i may eventually run the 400watt inverter i have in the front, put a plug on either side of the center console, and put my 1000watt in the trunk
