Electric vanity mirrors in a bd... can I upgrade easily?

Right now I just have regular mirrors in my sunvisors and I want a pair of sunvisors with the lights... Anybody know if my car is pre-wired for them (like for tweeters in the doors), or if I am going to need to tap into some wires in order to get them to work???

Yea I know that most of the GT's and all of the limiteds have them... I just want to know if I can simply swap them into mine and plug them in.

I dont even have a mirror on my drivers side sunvisor!!!!

Yup even the BK Brightons have the wiring. Take a Phillips screw drive remove the 2 screws that hold the visor to the roof. Pull the visor off and look in the hole where the screws went into. You should see a little cable with a 2 pin connector, grab it and pull it out a few inches. TA DA!

Also just so you know every Gen 2 legacy has wires pre-run for the:
-Tweeters
-Tachometer
-Fog lights
-Heated Mirrors

Its all plug and play.

Are you sure about the fog lights??? I have checked pretty extensivly in the hole down there and havent found anything.

I have the gt style bumper stock... I have looked both from the outside of the hole as well as from inside the fender liner and havent found anything.

that has been the only thing that has kept me from getting GT fogs for super cheap!!!!

The wiring for the switch should be there in the dash. Not sure about the wiring from the firewall to the bumper.

Assuming it is... How in the hell would I track down where the wire ends up??? I am nearly 99% positive it doesnt end up by the fog light... Do I need to separate it from the wiring bundle that goes to my headlights/corner lamps???

I am not 100% usually I get a a few cigarettes and open up my trusty Factory Service Manual and sift through 1000's of un-named PDF files until i find the proper section. Usually in BODY -> ELECTRICAL -> etc...

Anyways its really not an issue. There fog lights. Two wires per fog. + / - . When i did my JDM Bumper it came with the fancy fogs and I just cut one of the harness from the chassis and wired both fogs through that connection. Unless your planning on running HID's this should work.

So lets simplify it!

1) Install the Switch.
2) The switch should have 3 connections, 1 to power the light in the switch the other two for the on/off signal. . I am assuming this of
course.
3) Run two wires from your bumper to the edge of your engine bay then through one of the electrical grommets on the firewall or fender liner.
4) Wire up the switch
5) Wire in your fogs.

TA DA.. I make this sound easier then it is but your wiring a boost controller :-D

The truth is that if I have to modify my bumper... I will NEVER get around to installing them as I live in apartments right now.

Pffffft ... Lone_Legacy used his bathroom in his condo as a paint booth. I am sure you can get away with putting a bumper on your balcony and using a dremel tool.

I would but it would be more about disassembling it in the parking lot.

By choice, I live in what most would say is the "nicest" apartment complex around.... That being said... I park next to people who drive brand new BMW's, land rovers, ect.

I was under my car for about 10 minutes swapping my rear sway bar and it was enough for two other residents to report me to the leasing office :(

Now everytime I need to change my oil or do anything... I have to drive to pops house and do it in front of his place.

They cant report you if your off the property.

Well right now I only have projector headlights in... so I think my next move with lighting will be some DDM 5k HID's...

Unless that is... I find an easy way to get some fogs in... :smt017

Re: the original topic, I'm going to have to check this out. Forgetting running wires up to my radar detector when I can just tap in to a power source at the visor! I can also install some LEDs - 95 didn't come with map lights :(

Well I did this today - removed the visor and there are no wires up there on my 95L :( And there are no wires for tweeters or heated mirrors either because I took the door panel off to change my mirror and they weren't there.

I have a CDM 98/99 Brighton Wagon. I bought a pair of heated morriors with the switch and a pair of GT fog light.
I called the dealer and they said the fog should be pre-wired already. But I found out that it only pre-wired for the switch inside the dash but no plugs under the bumper.
Also, there are no plugs for the heated morriors.

hmmmm... if there is a power mirror plug it should be the same connector for the heated mirrors.

what I know is, the heated mirrors come with 2 connectors, one is clear/white with 3 wires for power mirror and one is black with 2 wires for heat
if you only have 1 connector with 3 wires, then should be power mirror only, no heat
and you can check if you have a heated mirror switch just beside the power mirror switch

So I pulled off my drivers side vanity mirror and...

Nothing... no wires that I could feel. I felt as far as possible up inside of the hole in the metal and still nothing.

Yes, the heated vs. non-heated have the same 3-pin connector for the power adjustment. But there is ANOTHER connector on the heated mirror for the heating element which will be non-functional on a car that did not have this option unless you run your own wire up to it.
