Much better-looking than the latest US Legacy GT. Thoughts?

Not really better at all. It still has the Toyota Corolla look and that design does not look sporty at all. My honest opinion!

yeah I have been confusing them with Toyotas for a while now. It needs to be less round, more square and more aggressive.

Ya not much of an improvement if you ask me, and why is the new thing stupid plastic engine covers? I enjoy poping the hood and actually seeing the engine. Not to mention I don't want to spend an extra five mins every time I want to work on the engine takeing covers off and putting them back on.

seriously.. i HATE engine covers on ANY car. Wtf is the point? Sure, they keep the engine 'looking nice'.. maybe. But they suck when you actually have to work on the thing! plus they make it look stupid in my opinion! YUCK!

Lots of haters on this thread lol
I like it, I'd totally rock it. Same with the new 2011 wrx.
I mean, yeah it is a bit too big, but that's where all the american cars are going it seems. I really like the jdm front bumper tho on this car. Idk, the whole car has been growing on me ever since I saw it.

I totally agree about the engine covers, they might look cool sometimes, but come on!
I heard tho, that the engine cover on these cars actually helps the airflow from the hood scoop to the intercooler. Taking it off permanently makes the top mount get completely heat soaked. Like what happens when you don't have a heat shield for a short ram intake.

i think it looks way too much like a family sedan/grocery getter. i was next to one the other day and asked my gf which one she liked better....she said mine because it looked more aggressive.

Yup, it's like putting a band-aid on a shark bite. Without major reconstructive surgery, shit aint gonna look good any time soon

It's cause subaru are ashamed of their stupid fricken plastic intake manifolds.

They need to give it a bigger hood scoop.

Oh.. god :smt021
I really don't know what I'm going to do if i ever get rid of this car. Don't really like ANY of their new cars. Not that I would buy a new car to begin with.

Some engine covers have accoustic material on the bottom of them to quiet down the engine (which the boxer could really use). For some people that is more important. Personally, I'm not a big fan of engine covers either, especially since they tend to trap heat near the engine, and this has been a problem on more than a few cars in the past (usually the fuel system/vapor lock)
Personally, I haven't liked the Legacy since the 05-06 models (which I LOVE btw). The new ones are huge, and there is absolutely nothing unique or sporty to their appearance. And this one really looks pretty much the same.

The 03's were love at first sight for me. In fact, I remember seeing my first in real life on the Auckland harbour bridge, was a silver 03 BP, and fresh off the show room floor.
But the love died when I found out what was going on under the bonnet years later when I started getting into the modifying game. The intake system is made of fail and aids, and the intake manifold should not be allowed to exsist. Plus I HATE electronic throttles. Evidently subaru didn't learn that plastic in the engine bay is BAD. I can't count how many split radiator tanks i've see, or snapped anything from half moon seal to oil filler neck to BF/BC header tank. I have since sworn that if I ever own one, I will put a REAL engine in there.

Agreed. There should not be a computer between my foot and the throttle. Maybe on a boring Corolla or Civic, but on a Subaru? No.
