Dunno if i should post this in the main intakes thread but ive just been looking around for some feedback on the Weapon R intakes and havent found too much, maybe im not looking hard enough but anywhoooo, This is the one im thinking about

http://www.racinglab.com/weapon-r-intak ... y-010.html (http://www.racinglab.com/weapon-r-intake-sc-subaru-legacy-010.html)

And my question is, where am i going to put the Sensor (O2 sensor im guessing?) that plugs into the stock airbox? Like is there a port in the weapon R that i can stick it into? and if not whadda i do with it lol. Also if anyone wants to gimme some feedback on these intakes im all ears. Thanks!

better keep reading.

i assume your talking about the MAF, thats right on the engine side of the stock air box.

the o2 sensors monitor o2 in the exhaust.

spend your money how you like, but over 200 bucks for a gimmicky intake seems crazy to me.

its not like the larger tube closes off at lower RPMS, and opens at higher RPMS, the theory behind it is that the narrower tube will create higher VELOCITY stream of air for lower RPMS and still provide the higher FLOW of the larger tube at higher RPMs..which may work, until right before the throttle body it all gets dumped back into the same space...the higher velocity suction on the narrower tube that this intake is sposed to provide, i call BS on cause the TB pulls air through both tubes at the same velocity, if it could open and close the larger tube it may work, or even change the lengths of the runners it may work, but then you would have some serious engineering. and alot more than a bolt on intake. look into the variable intake runners on high end euro cars and you will see what this intake is going for.

if the engine pulls say...800 CFM, it will only pull 800 CFM, regardless of fancy tubes before the TB, except for of course, forced induction.

if the gimmick worked, everyone would do it, and they would install similar products on vehicles stock.

also, just from looking at the pics, that one doesnt seem to be compatible with a MAF sensor, or you may have to purchas a MAF adaptor.

I have nearly the same intake. I haven't dyno'd it, but it sounds fantastic.

As far as the O2 senor, you drill a hole right into the piping itself. I got mine for $95 though, I wouldn't spend 200 whatever for that one.

Go this route:
http://www.andysautosport.com/subaru/19 ... /weapon_r/ (http://www.andysautosport.com/subaru/1995_1999_legacy/performance/intakes/short_ram_intakes/weapon_r/)

If you want the Secret Weapon filter specifically, then buy it separately or look for the piping alone on ebay. But don't pay whatever you were going to for it.

As%20far%20as%20the%20O2%20senor,%20you%20drill%20a%20hole%20right%20into%20the%20piping%20itself.

so you take it out of the exhaust an put it in the intake?

what do you do with the hole in your exhaust then? put the MAF there?

and also, your 2003 is MAP based, and he if looking at an intake for a 99, which should be MAF based...

Hmmm I'll look into that cheaper one. I guess ill just keep thinking it over. Thanks for the advice though everyone

I'm talking about the one in the intake?

After drilled into intake:

I dunno about the MAP/MAF difference, but there's my 2 cents on the INTAKE o2 sensor. If that's not what it is, then I dunno what to tell you about the O2 sensor. I didn't have to do anything with my exhaust.

THAT looks to be an IAT, intake air temp. sensor..

THIS is a MAF sensor from a subaru, this is something that older gen. subarus have, that yours, the newer doesnt...its just a TAD important when looking at intake mods.

THIS is an o2 sensor..they are in the exhaust, and only in the exhaust.

cmon guys, do a little homework.

OR go buy this

I'm thinkin' im gonna get the one 'Buru in the burgh has. Cause its like nearly half the price of the one that i was looking at. And i could just drill a hole like you did. I'll probably look into a heat shield as well.
this is my current setup

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2010/07/kdk_1257-1.jpg

As you can see i got the cone filter and the tube connected to the stock airbox, which i removed the stock air filter out of. I just think my engine would benefit from just having a tube all the way to the engine, instead of going from tube to box to engine

for what its worth, you have a MAP based subaru

Do you think its worth it to buy a new intake system?

yes.. IMO you should replace what you have in there now.
Just get the cheap ebay intake though. Don't waist your money on something that you still have to modify..
