well... in addition to the wrx wheels i picked up, i have a few more things coming for the wagon.

i picked up one of the ebay intakes after reading the reviews/dyno/etc on them.

I also located a wrecked outback in the junkyard last tuesday when i was there and didn't even think to pull the rear sway bar. luckily for me, my friend lives right by the junkyard and he grabbed the rear sway bar AND the strut/spring/mount setup so i can have some offroad/rally fun during the winter months and then drop the wagon for the summer.

also picked up a powered bazooka tube from a friend for cheap to help fill out the low end of the crappy audio setup in the wagon (previous owner put a jensen deck and pioneer speakers in it... i'm guessing it's the "walmart special" setup)

i'll be picking up one more thing but i have to pay matt for it first. :wink:

Congrats on the finds! I would love to find an Outback in the junkyard... Front bumper, hood, RSB, interior, etc would all be scavenged. I picked up an eBay intake, but have yet to install it.

unfortunately the outback was hit in the front so the bumper and hood weren't useable (otherwise i would have them as well)

the interior was black leather but was shredded.

jason... pretty much! i hear ya about the dents and such... i'd LOVE to find a driver's side fender in the junkyard and a set of bumpers (actually found a newer legacy bumper last time but it was kinda banged up... it's the gt style that came on the L's... the ones that don't have the bottom part color matched)

i wasn't trying to keep the part a secret... just didn't want to say i have it till i pay matt for the part.

If the bumpers are just dented or twisted, they can be dropped in really hot water and then pulled out, or reshaped. Then stripped and plastic welded.

Thats what a body shop did for me when someone backed into me with a towbar and punctured my bumper.

oh... and the outback rear sway bar is in... probably the easiest mod i've ever done... just unbolt 4 bolts, remove old, insert new, tighten 4 bolts and you're done. only bad part is that the tires are rubbing bad enough that i don't want to push the car in the twisties... :cry:

i got my intake, bazooka tube, and pulley installed today (thanks to matt for the pulley). the intake and pulley make this a COMPLETELY different car. it's pretty peppy now. i'm pleased. i think full exhaust and a new airfilter (either perrin or k&n) will round out my engine mods.

jason... what kind of deal on the k&n? also, looked at that bumper at the junkyard again and it's pretty trashed... didn't look like it was worth picking up...

i made another junkyard run on tuesday... picked up my 4th outback strut/spring combo so i can get this thing lifted, grabbed the passenger seat and the rear bench, the rear cargo cover, the sail-mount tweeters, and the floor mats from a 99 outback that we found there. would have grabbed the driver's seat but one bolt stripped out so i need to go back and cut it out. picked up a few things for jess too but i'll let her tell you about those.

next question... anybody interested in a rear outback sway bar? i'm pretty sure the car still had it on and i could probably pick it up for cheap if somebody is interested. (if jess is interested, she gets dibs :P :lol: )

i'll let ya know AFTER the alignment... with the wheels cambered in, it tends to dart around alot when you hit bumps.

Well, I think it looks a little weird with those wheels and tires because of all the room between the tires and fenders. It would probably look pimp as hell with some bigger tires though. Something more aggressive and knobby. Really give it that 4x4 look. :-D

you guys have to keep in mind this is my winter vehicle... not just that, i already have one slammed ride. the slammed look was rubbing like crazy... i'm missing small chunks of tread from the tires hitting the fenders when i would go over bumps.

i do have to say it looks better in person but you guys are entitled to your opinions.

i'm happy with it... it means i can go down a gravel road without dragging the exhaust... not just that, i have a bit of ground clearance to play around with now 8)

matt... have any suggestions on tires? i'm considering something more "off road worthy" i'd probably stick with the same tire sizing though to keep the speedo accurate.

If it's supposed to be your winter/playing in mud, gravel, etc vehicle, I'd put snow tires on it. Figure out what'll fit (My '97 Outback has 205/70R15's) and get the best snows you can afford.
